Fire restrictions

Just called the ranger station, and as of today there are no fire restrictions. I can't speak for this weekend but hopefully there are no changes between now and then. Also found out you can just print campfire permits from the Tahoe national forest website.

I doubt there would be since it we has wetting rain the last few days.
I was talking to a person who works in the Truckee office and said that they were shooting for June 1 but it might be pushed back with the weather.

That was the office I spoke with. It's been a few years since I have been able to have a legal fire up there.

Got a link?

I can't find one...

Tahoe National Forest - Passes & Permits

EDIT: A search found this page:
http://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/me...470&width=full
And this permit:
http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_...ev3_004419.pdf

However, it says it has to be faxe in & then faxed back to you.

Do people still use faxes?

No fax needed here, just take 4 question quiz at bottom of page and print it out after you pass.

Ranger Joe stopped by our camp Saturday at Fordyce lake and said that they were planning on calling fire restrictions in TNF June 1st.

Seems like its still pretty moist up there to me, still patches of snow on the ground in the shady bushes. That's what the man said though.

Wouldn't doubt it. They tend to put restrictions up before the other areas do. Just as long as they don't close the trail like they did a few years ago do to fire danger it will be ok.
