That thing is cool. We where wondering what made those little rock scrapes on flat rocks but it looks like it was the tire chains. Good job and thanks for all the hard work.

With all do respect, um..... Thanks! Kinda reminds me of a place called the Rubicon. You all know what happened when they blew up Gate Keeper. I'm not bagging on you bro for the work you have done, I'm just venting cause you give an inch and they will take a mile. Wont be long now, just change the name on the door:

All good. You have your opinion.

I just volunteer my time when I can in hopes of preventing it from turning into the rubicon. I have used the trail for a few years and figured I should help out with labor cause I hate the politics.

I raised the similar questions about this with people in the know...

I was told this summer's work dealt primarily with the following issues:
1. Mud-holes (filling in or creation of water bars of areas where water gathers)
2. Old Committee Trail blockage (to keep people off the now closed portion)
3. Winch Hill Bi-passes (making them safe/do-able for slightly less built rigs).
4. New Committee Trail fixing (making 2-3 spots slightly easier).

1 & 2 are no brainers.

I was concerened with 3-4 & asked if the County/People doing the work on the same page as the users/FOF Member.

My impression (so far) is that there needs to be a level of trust, and all those involved have been striving to keep the trail challenging (WH's have been untouched), yet at the same time trying to make it "not impossible" to get a broken rig off the trail.

I think it was good work and not the same as the rubicon. A bunch of the spots that where blown up on the con where places some ass hat changed to make harder and opened a can of worms not places that got harder by use or Mother Nature. I also don't have a problem with cops on the trail because apparently some people need baby sitters.

All this talk about Fordyce becoming like the Con. Regardless of what anyone believes or what has gone before one has to keep in mine that change is going to happen. Some good and undoubtedly some bad. Not a whole lot we can do about that. We are doing the best we can. The reality is that we have less land and more people using it. The bottom line is that if you're concerned don't just say it's bulls**t. Do something. The FOF needs people that are willing to step up and lead. If anyone wants to have a position in the FOF and lead the fight against whatever they perceive as injustice, trail closure/change, or "paving" of Fordyce contact me and we'll get you involved.

Here's my phone #:530-334-0300.

Here's my e-mail: [email protected]

Smokd?

If you're a good fit you may end up taking my place. I've been doing this quite a while and am going to be looking for new challenges soon.

Keep in mind these are all bypass/bailout options or work to restore, maintain or to close sections of old trail that are illegal to use.

There's absolutely no excuse for anyone to try and use the old decommissioned sections of trail now. They are obviously no part of any trail system. They have been rehabbed and need to be left alone to return to their natural state. That being said I wouldn't be surprised if someone still tried to reopen them. I can only hope that if that is the case they end up being caught and end up with rigs confiscated and a hefty fine.

All I can say is it gets irritating hearing so many people complain and a majority, not all, but a majority of the complainers don't do anything to help and aren't involved in anyway. Like Bret said, change is going to happen, some good some bad. Get involved and help sway the work that is done to be minimally invasive on the trail but at the same time keep everyone happy. No one wants to see an excavator on the trail. Hopefully more people get involved and help fix the small issues before they turn into big ones. Just my .02.

I would like to say good job on the trail fix. I've been coming up here for about 9 years now and the change in the trail has been extreme in some places ( W3 bypass). The trail change has not been natural by any means. We all wheel the trail in differant ways (full throttle, cruising, or a little of everything) but thats the fun of it. We all go to escape and have fun. But just like all our rigs the trail needs repairs and maintenance to keep it open. My friend and I talked to the workers friday as they crossed the river to see if any help was needed but they were good. The only thing I didn't like hearing from them that they are Patrolling the trail with Law inforcement. But thats another subject.
