Fordyce area lodging/camping and parking (70ft tow rig)

Fordyce area lodging/camping and parking (70ft tow rig)

FYI: Spoke with Cisco Grove Campground and the entire facility is booked during our visit. Not sure they will have any truck/trailer parking available.

Plan to run Fordyce Friday July 20, 2018.

Would like to have lodging/camping near Fordyce trail head for the nights of July 19 & 20.

Welcome suggestions on lodging/camping and parking?

Jeeps are streetable so once there, tow rig would not need to move.
Tow rig is around 70 feet long.

Thanks in-advance!

Tow rig setup. And NO, the front Scrambler is not coming on this trip.

Cisco Grove campground is your best bet. I would be extremely surprised if they were completely booked. You might be able to park the semi at the Chevron station on the other side of the highway. They have a large parking lot semis use. Iím not sure who is in charge of that though.

Maybe park in the staging area at the turn off to Meadow lake, drive down to Eagle Lakes, camp on trail and end up back at tow rig.
Or see if there's someplace in Truckee area that could accommodate you.

I think that's the werkend of Axialfest so I wouldn't be suprised if Cisco is full.
The Chevron is a good idea.

The Manager is a pretty nice guy, been trying to get him to switch propane companies to me for a while. Trucks sleep there all the time, don't see why it wouldn't work out.

Thanks for the suggestion on Lucky's.
I had noticed it while looking at Google maps.

I'll call and see what manager has to say.

If Lucky's & CG don't work, you can try Nyack Road.
It's about 10 miles west, & has a Burger King/General Store.
Semis rest there as well.

We are getting close to our trip.

Cisco CG is full up for Axial fest. No parking available.
Did say the $5 trail is still an option from there to Eagles Lake rd.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I spoke to manager at Lucky's Travel Plaza, he said parking truck/trailer in lot below store will be ok.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Am I correct on trail exit options back to truck/trailer?

#1
Run trail all the way to Meadow Lake, take Meadow Lake Rd up to 7, run 7 over to 89, 89 to Truckee and back to Cisco on I-80.

#2
If we run complete trail up to Meadow Lake, then back track to Committee crossing then Fordyce Lake rd./89 back to Cisco.

Yes

Are any rigs street able?

We've dropped rigs at Eagle Lakes then tow rigs at Cisco, street rig shuttles drivers back to E.L.

I believe all rigs will be streetable.

I'm good parking Volvo/tailer at Lucky's and roading the rigs the short distance to trail head.

Thanks!

Do option #2. The trail out of comittee is fun as well. Once you get to the top (fordyce lake) turn right and take fordyce lake rd (aka rattlesnake rd) all the back down to cisco grove.

Have fun!
