Cisco Grove

Looking at book of faces, there is a post floating around about possible new owners for the business with the parking we usually pay for. That the new owners are not into the rock crawling scene, and possibly does not align with their interests. I know private business, no big deal, and I am just down the highway a bit and my rig will be keeping it's street reg, so not a huge deal for me.

Is there any truth in this? Or somebody spreading a rumor?

Came to ask the same thing. Post I read sounded like new owners didn't want anything to do with ohv.

They can do that all they want. They cant block access to fordyce lake rd. Maybe the chevron across the highway will take this opportunity to make some bucks.

A friend checked tax records.

Tow rig parking generates $50k a year for them.
Hard to believe they would eliminate it.

Wow, I find that hard to believe. I wonder if something else gets lumped in there.

most likely, as that would be 13.7 rigs a day paying $10 each.
Maybe all of no-hookups parking fees...

I guessed $200-$1k a weekend for 12 weekends. (It's supposed to be $20 a night)
Add 3 full weeks worth for various runs & it hits $20k.

Nort sure what they claim. Maybe snow park income?

I think it varies by who is at the register. I've paid $10 a night, $15 and once I think $20.

The inconsistency can be annoying but it's still worth it to me for the peace of mind. After a long weekend if I came back to my tow rig broke into or vandalised id be ready to curb stomp the first tweaker I saw

I haven't been in 10+yrs, but I take it the parking situation hasn't changed much, still the trail head, this private campground and possibly the chevron?

I'm trying to figure out what to do with my group. Were coming from 8hrs away so I'd like to get something figured out in advance.

I literally just talked to them 2 minutes ago, I'm still in the parking lot.

She says after this week Cisco is closed for renovations, no parking, no camping, no store. ATV only on weekends due to logging.

Says new owner doesn't really care about allowing access to the trail, and doesn't care about losing any of the parking $$$, doesn't need it.

They can't control access to rattlesnake road, they can only stop offering paid parking. Just park at the Chevron across the highway.

Green sticker rigs on the short trip over may be a future issue.

If you're worried about it, just go drop it off on rattlesnake rd then go park the tow rig and walk over. Its about a beers distance anyways....

Is the chevron actually secure? I mean, its a gas station, I doubt they have private security or anything, people coming and going all night. I guess they are more likely to have someone notice something. Does anyone know if they charge a fee?

It's as secure as parking your rig at loon ot tahoma for a few days while on the rubicon. The good thing about that Chevron is it's very exposed, and in the open. I hope that equals less riff raff and bullshit. The only other option is park your rig at the eagle lakes staging area, but that's not secure at all.

So it's check and see situation if the lower lot is open for parking depending on the space they need during renovations? Otherwise park over by chevron.

Chevron has always been free for the last two years that is where I parked, once while driving to rattlesnake rd chp waved to me in my sami buggy with red label crawlers and no wind shield. I laughed and turned up music and jammed down rd

I was up there last Friday and saw the barricades. Place was a ghost town.
I've also heard the rumors about them (koa) not being ohv friendly.
