Magnum 5.2 V8 Electrics

Hello,

I have never posted on here before so i hope this is in the right place,

My question is about the electrics on a Magnum 5.2 v8 out of a dodge durango, 1996,

I have what appears to be the complete loom and pcm,
It has a electronic auto box which i dont wish to keep so i only want engine to run,

I have googled and searched other places on the net but not found the info i need,

I want to know what i need to keep and what i can chop out of the loom as there are far too many wires in there,

I will be using a custom tank so the dodge fuel pump may not work so i need to get round this as well,

any pointers to help will be much appreciated as here in UK not much if any is available on this engine,

Thanks in advance.

Check out www.burnsvilleoffroad.com and give them a call. They specialize in swaps like this(though their website has recently changed a LOT and their 5.2/5.9l info seems to be gone).

I have got the loom pretty much sorted for firing the engine but it wont go,
it has got a spark, pressure at the fuel rail, and the injectors light up on turning the engine over,
Is there a way to check the crank sensor for working properly or anything else that may help.

If you have spark, then the crank and cam sensors are working... without them you won't have fuel or spark(fuel injectors and coil won't fire).

on sorting this engine loom, both side of the injectors are live constantly, should one side pulse??
if i put a bit of fuel down the throttle body it will fire up and run for a few seconds until it burns it up,
so now my issue is the injectors, should they pulse and if so any ideas how to sort it,

I believe in most systems one side is constantly hot and the other is negative controlled by the ecm to open/close the injectors. Do you have the system and battery grounded to the engine well?

x2.

The injectors are constant 12v+... with a switching ground.

Look at a wiring diagram, make sure the PCM is grounded, and make sure every wire coming out of it that is supposed to be grounded... is grounded well... because the PCM is what controls the grounding of the injectors.

You said you are for sure getting spark though, right?
