tq issues with ultra bell

I snapped my bell housing on my 700. So i figured i would just up grad to the ultra bell. when i bolt it up to the motor, the tq is too tight. If i line it up with the raised bolt holes in the flywheel its super tight and you cant move it. If i line it up beside the holes with some effort you can move it. I don't have to back off the bolts much at all to get it to move. my tq is set in the pump. Am i stuck getting a new tq, are can i grind my mounts down a Little?. Maybe even cut the pump eats down a Little more.

do you mean torque converter when you say "tq"?

Is the converter seated completely in the transmission pump? I want to say you should feel 2 distinct clunks when installing it. It helps to turn it as you gently push it on.

You should have about 1/8th inch of clearance between the flexplate and converter, so either you have the wrong or defective bellhousing, or don't have the converter seated fully in the transmission if I am to understand your question..

Yea I Maent torque converter dont know why i put tq instead of tc. It seated good. there is less than an 8th between the tc and the pump bolts. http://www.race-mart.com/JW_Performa...92450-700.html is the one i got. now that i have it not getting a lot of answers on email. actually nun.

step back and re-read your posts. they are hard as hell to understand what you are trying to say.

take pictures, drawings, anything........ because your spelling and description sucks to try and help you


it sounds like you "stacked the pump" on your transmission.... the torque converter isnt fully seated.

It might be a race bellhousing with a big diameter non race converter.

I don't know what stacked the pump means. I'm assuming you mean that the tc shaft is on the pump ears instead of in the tc notches. I don't think that is the issue the tc cant go back much. I cant get a standard flat tip screw drive between the tc and the pump bolts its that close. its almost like the bell is just a littel short.

it is a racing bell, however the stock converter is sopsed to fit but guess not

well, this is easy then. start to pull it up to the tranny and spin the converter untill you cant move it. rock it back and forth, pull trans out and look for scrapes of paint/marks on the converter and the bell housing. nothing complicated there!
