Thumbs up Check This Out...

This Park rocks! I've been there. It's got enough of everything to keep a wheeler happy as hell!

And now it's got a new name!

Last time I knew they were having some "zoning issues" as far as offroading goes. Archie neglected to mention that.

Theres a monster truck in the upper right corner....that should be a good start for ya.
I think its a great site...WTF is your problem?

"Call em to plan your mountaintop adventure" it says.

Mt. Olive Park

This Mt. Olive Park looks cool. How is the riding there? Is there anything hard core?

I didn't think Alabama had anything hard core

Thumbs up Alabama Riding? Hardcore??

Yeah, we've got some hardcore stuff. The park has a good bit of it and is growing. We work on it often and come up with some real nice ideas. Try it out sometime!

Mt. Olive looks like the place to be if you are in that area. Fortunately (so far) we have enough open spaces so that we don't have to deal with Rec. Parks yet!!!

When did this park come about? I rode there at the 2001 superlift event and went on a ride in May there also. I was under the impression it was old mining land with free access. Did the $hit hit the fan or something?

I ran trails like the Stairs, Melvins Nursery, Rockgarden 1 and 2, are these still there?

The web site makes it sound like you cant just go, pay your $ and wheel for the day. Like you have to plan an "event"

Post Hmmm, lotsa questions...

I'll try to answer them as best as I can.

First, the idea for the park came into being after the second Superlift event back in April of '02. There was plenty of land and we had the resources and ideas flowing.

Now, keep in mind, this land is PRIVATELY OWNED by an individual. He has put a lot of effort into this project as well. But, as you'll discover elsewhere, there are liability issues at all the ORV/OHV parks around the country.

Ours developed from a Superlift event attendee that left the park for "gas and munchies". He had an accident on the way. He also didn't have any insurance. The other people involved then went after the property owner. Now, you see the reason for the requirement of all vehicles being "licenced and insured". Folks, we live in a "sue your ass at the drop of a hat" environment now a days. Thanks largely to this so called politically-correct attitude our leaders have.

The park is accessed only by reservation. The contact numbers are on the site. This is also for liability and safety issues. This way we know you're there and if help is needed, we can provide it. Plus, you and your group can enjoy yourselves on 2100 acres of trails. Now, this doesn't mean you have to wait for an event. Call or email to inquire about any dates you have in mind to see if you can reserve the park for your group.

All the land around the park that any of you rode during the Superlift events is still there. It's just been sold and under developement in various areas. Other parts have been under so much riding pressure that the owners have started grumbling. It won't be very long until most all of the existing trails are off limits like in Monteagle, Tn. and other places. People still ride them anyway.

This is the reason for the park. To provide a place to go ride without worrying about running into the law on the way out or in and have a good time. The fees go mostly to cover insurance, food(if provided) and any other expenses that depend on a particular event or reservation.

I believe once you give the park a chance, you'll like it. Any more questions? Shoot an email to [email protected]
They'll be able to help you out.

Raider, if you are who I think you are I am Mark, had the red CJ on the Dixie Dozen ride last year.

What trails did yall loose? Sure seemed like we covered much more than 2100 acres on the Superlift ride and the Dixie Dozen ride. If the ChAOS crew is at the helm of this thing I am sure it will be great, just hate to see any trails being closed.

I know Jeff is ready to go back and so am I, just got to finish my new suspension and the big hang up the baby due at the end of april
