I didnt cut PBR's but we cut up a set of Maddog's. Lug's tore off them to start with, after cutting it just added some new edge's for awhile. I think thats the only reason they seemed to work better. We removed all the small lug's and split the big ones in half.
take a sawzall and cut all the texas lugs of!!! the tire works 100% beter after that!!! wish i had pics, will see what i can find. it took about 30 min per tire.
The alternating small center lugs & the small Texas side lugs
removed. I wouldn't use a sawzall.... prob use a sheetmetal neumatic short-blade saw. Either that or a red hot wide chisel
He uses that to cut out old silicone/gaskets when removing windshields (doing auto glass for ~20 years). Makes short work of them so I can see why it would work well on rubber tread.
Im sure they work great. Did you weigh the removed rubber? I'm curious how much weight reduction we're talking. It's gotta be up around 6-7lbs per tire.
