if the power steering box is broke in any way fluid should still go through it correct?..finishing my car fire it up, jack the front end up, cycle the steering to bleed the air and everything seems cool...few days later, high pressure hose starts leaking between hose and fitting, pull it off, replace it and is good...now pump seems to have gone out immediately, and both pressure/return lines are leaking from fitting/hose junction!?..steering is almost non existant (barely turns with brute force, definately no power steering!), pump seems to boiling fluid and not pumping...almost like the box is clogged or something and not letting fluid in, causing the lines to swell/leak?..never had this problem..any help is apreciated..Toyota IFS steering box w/Howe resevoir, cooler and Tundra power steering pump..
I'd think it would depend on whats broken. Largely it would depend on the valve in the box. If the the valve is somehow bypassing and allowing fluid to both sides of the piston in the box, then you'd be going nowhere fast. Keep in mind the valve not only controls fluid in, but also out of the piston. Really the only way you will know is to swap the box out to a good one, or tear apart the one you have.
You're going to have to troubleshoot here, and with ps, that means making a mess. Pull the hoses and unbolt the steering (leave pitman arm attached). Once it's all removed, swivel the pitman arm and watch for fluid to come pouring out one of the holes....
there is a check valve/relief thing in the pressure side fitting. I bet it's popped out of place.
