I got a 01 f350 8 inch lift running 38x15.50 tires the truck gets 50 thousand plus miles a year put on it but it also gets hard core mud every weekend my problem is I'm sick of unit bearings, broken spiders, twisted pinion gears broken shafts etc. so I'm thinking about puting rockwells under my baby and going up to 40s my question is what do y'all think? If I do this I'll probably get a gear vendors also so I can get a little better top end out of her but I don't want to loose my abs and I'd like to either be 8x170 bolt pattern or 10 lug semi bolt pattern the abs is the main thing I can't find and what's y'alls opinion do you think these rocks world handle Texas speed limits of up to 85? And keep in mind this truck gets 50 thousand plus miles a year but also gets mudded a lot!
You're only one day short of Tuesday:flipoff2: You will hate the 6.72 ratio for anything less than 44's. If you are going to go with 40's, go with Ouversons 4.90 gears. F700/550 wheel brakes and you will be set. If you want 8 lug you can go with ouverson's wheel hubs. You can get tone rings for the ABS and to make the transmission shift (since the auto relies on the rear axle tone ring). Differential engineering was selling them. My last buggy was street legal with 49's and I drove it 80mph on the interstate pretty regularly.
That is all the spoon fed info you get. Most of what you have asked has been asked several times if you use the search function:flipoff2:

I did search I found out about the rear abs problem, but not the front.. sense the front and is controlled through the unit bearings and the 8 lug conversion kits I see didn't mention an abs option.. One of my biggest concerns is will they handle 50 thousand miles a year on the highway I never found an answer to that at all cause most people don't put that kind of miles on.. Oh and I am concidering 46s I'm just not sure if I'll be able to pull my 40ft gooseneck with 46s was thinking the military ones.. I apriciate your input I actually missed the gears ouversion offers that's good to know
And Toyjeep73 I got a dedicated k5 I just prefer to mud my powerstroke, it's got more room ac etc. and I don't always plan On mudding.. such as my last vacation I was there and ran in to a 4x4 group and ended up mudding with them and my k5 was 1600 miles away, that's why I wanna try to build the powerstroke up some more. I was gonns build a d60 up chromaloy shafts free spin e locker 4.88s chromaloy ball joints and i think that's it? Lol but anyway by my calculations id be looking at about 4 grand just in the front axle I think if I remember right I could set rocks up for bout 4500 but I wasn't sure bout abs and top speed on them
I got an offer to pick a front and rear up with 4 corner disk breaks for 3 grand from one of my buddy's they're the 6 lug bolt pattern but I could deal with that y'all think that's a good buy?
At over 40"'s tires I don't think ABS wont be working very well. Why not you just delete it and keep the sensor in the rear axle for speedometer? You just need the ABS functional to pass inspection?
