Evening,

I wish to build a rear engine buggy utilising the following :

Rover 4.6 v8
ZF 4hp22 Auto Gearbox
4ws Unimog 404 portal axles

The above being chosen due to what i already have from donour vehicles. We don't have speed events here in the UK so don't need a 500bhp LS engine as much as i'd like one. (It'd also break my axles!)

My problem lies in the transfer box.

There are two manufacturers here in the UK that make reverse transfer boxes - rakeway and milner. But they are one ratio only and devorced.

Hence i wish to use a doubler.

I've searched a lot on here about the np203 doubler.

The zf4hp22 output shaft is a 10 spline.
As far as i know there is an np203 that came attached to an SM465. Does anybody know the details on the SM465 output shaft ? Diameter ? Size of splines ?

The zf is approximately :
29.7mm max OD of splines
2mm or 3mm spline depth
5mm wide

Basically - can i fit an np203 onto the back of my 4hp22 ?

If not......i have no idea of how many splines are on the inside of this shaft - meaning i could possibly swap it for another which fits an np203 ?

Secondly :
Can i make the output of the np203 doubler a drive flange so i can run my reverse transfer box as a remote ? I did see one which was 'butchered' a bit but looking for something reliable.

Rakeway transfer :

Hope this all makes sense :)

Cheers

Gordon
