Talk with Dan at right gear and axle in salinas ca. The have a kit to put disc brakes and a drum style( inside the rotor) e brake on a 14 bolt. Welcome to Right! Gear and Axle
This is interesting. I just picked up a 14 bolt with rotors that are made to fit a drum style e-brake inside. I was planning to ditch that setup and have a standard 1/2 ton caliper but now you have me curious if the internal e-brake might work :smokin: Here is a picture of the e-brake.
just went through this. sell your 'old' 14 bolt. the eldorado calipers will leave you wanting more from everything ive read.
go find a 'newer' 14 bolt off a GM 2500. its got the same insides as the older 14's, but has the ebrake built into the brake hats. i picked up one for $300 out of an 04 2500 truck.
It's hard to beat the cost of a newer hd axle just swapped in, he'll of a lot less headache and you can have your gears and goodies swapped if needed and still have an axle to sell after.
I here ya on the driveshaft issue, As long as the output on the transfer holds you should still have brakes on the front, provided you are locked in at the time.
Curious to see what you come up with as I am in the same boat with my 14 bolt.
