Ok, I see most people running the hydro assist ram off the center link. Any reasons it wouldn't be ok running it off the drag? Seems it would still take a load off the steering box. Reason I want to do it this way is two reasons, I am running the stock 1 ton center link and dont want to steer off it, id rather steer off my cross over which is 1.5" x .25 dom.
Yeah I wasn't thinking about it that way... I have the mounts kind of build up, looks like I should look into doing high steer and running the ram off that instead.. I had a hard time packaging it all up last time I tried it. Now that I have it driving and know where my clearances are I can probly make it work now. Thanks for the advice.
I don't really want to push off the stock tie rod. I'd imagine it would pretzel the bastard.
There are gone be some weird angles between your two mounting points when the suspension is cycling..... Don't see how you could mount it and it be consistent with the drag link moving up an down
With it on the axle the only cylinder movement would come as you turn wheel
Just a thought
You could always take a peice of tube drill random holes the length of it and slide your existing draglink inside.
Then you use the holes as plug welds and also weld the ends, I have done this with good results...... If your worried about the stock dl being too weak
I was thinking of beefing it up, the 60 one is weird and has the bend in it around the cover so I would have to slit up a bunch of pieces of tube and weld them together.. It would end up looking ridiculous I am sure.. hah.
Don't know about fords but done an assist on my dads s10 on chevy tons
He has highsteer running stock center link an it has held up well so far
An he is pretty rough( drives by Braille ). I would just run it til I could upgrade
