I could use some input on making a double shear bracket on my stock d44 knuckle.
when I first got my steering kit installed, I just threw the tie rod under because I wanted to get it done, my c-caps had a shock tab sticking out so there was clearance issues, and I didnt want to run 2 big heims stacked on top of each other without double shearing it. I dont really have the funds to get a set of flat top knuckles and high steer arms right now, but I have a lot of steel sitting around and want to make my own bracket.
Anyone have some pics I could use for inspiration, or ideas on how to get it done. Heres how my setup sits, ruffstuff heims, draglink side is 7/8x7/8 with the safety misalignment, tie rod side is 7/8x3/4.
this is one we built for my buddies blazer, im thinking something along those lines but made to fit the stock knuckle.
I also have been reading up on welding said bracket to the cast knuckle. Seems like the biggest thing is preheating the piece and post heating to cool evenly. Any other words of wisdom?
thanks for any and all replies.
