Hey all, Im running some thick beadlocks on my toyota. I cut tire recently and put a tube in one of them. The only tubes I can find have the valve stem facing the front of the rim like most rims are. I located the valve stem in the center of the rim because of the rings. This is causing the valve stem to pull out of the tube. Does anyone know of a tube that has the stem facing the in the inside of the tube instead of the front. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
That seems to be the next step. I dont know if I can get close enough to the edge and still have enough space between the beadlock ring and an air chuck.
Can you just get the cut vulcanized? I have a couple buddies that have had some pretty serious gashes fixed with zero problems. Not sure how a tube will behave being aired down to 6 or 7 pounds
Unfortunately theres no one in my area that vulcanizes tires. One place can send it off, but its crazy expensive. I have a few buddies running tubes with low pressure, and beadlocks, and have had good luck. Their rings arent as tall as mine and their valve stem is in stock location
Im running 15 inch wheels so an inner valve stem sounds like a nightmare I dont want to get into. plus in ky conditions are always changing and air pressure can vary.
Not to hi-jack this thread but this brings up tubes in general. I've been packing a tube as a last ditch spare for my H1s . Since I can break the wheel down easily on the trail and stuff the tube in figured this could work in the event the gash was big? But after reading this am concerned about the valve stem location too?
I have had 5 tires patched with commercial tire truck patches and they have all held air for years. They are like 50 bucks a patch, but they flat out work. Check with a local shop and see what they will do for you. I wouldn't run tubes if I could avoid them.
