this would be much more appropriate to post in the Newbie forum or Chit-Chat since it completely lacks anything technical.

actually a better place would probably be www.michiganjeepers.com

Well let's turn this into a tech thread while we're waiting for pictures. What kind of ZF axles are we talking here?

Thank you! I got them out of one of those aircraft tugs from the military. Not sure what model they are (can't find #) they are just a little smaller than the ones monster trucks use (mine are 8 lug)
they only have a 10" planetary.

Damn, mail them to me already.

[email protected]

People post pics of 'ID this axle for me' all the damned time. This is no less techy.

I think he needs the actual camera part, not the red star (though he lacks that too).

Post something on Michigan Jeepers. There are like 2000 members or something, so I am sure that you will be able to find someone near you.

Ok so maybe I put this thing in the wrong column, it was 2a.m.
I really don't see what the big deal is. I will get some pics together of the ring and pinion and of the planetaries in them, since I will have them apart putting seals in anyway and put them on another board with friendlier people. I just thought that most of you are into rockcrawling and these axles can be bought for about $1000 for the pair, are geared about 22 to 1, have a small ring and pinion for more ground clearance, have planetaries to take the stress off driveshafts and hydraulic steering built into both front and rear, not to mention they are rated at 3 ton but only weigh about 900 lbs. all together.

Thanks to those who wrote something to contribute though.
I appreciate it, I will be checking out michigan jeepers.

And one more thing... I was talking about axles on this thread why isn't that 4x4 discussion. Should I have put it in with the general chit chat right next to the boob one?

I PM'd you. Maybe you don't know how to check our PM's. I live in Owosso and was willing to help you out with taking the pics and even posting them for you. Isn't that what you needed?

I said thank you to those who had something to contribute...like you. I just thought more people would be interested in the content of the post rather than how it was titled or which heading it was under. Since there seem to be alot of "moderator wannabe's" and not alot of interest in the subject matter I guess I don't see the point. Know what I mean? I was thinking about giving Troy a call but I just found out my neighbor has a new cam and is dying to try it out.

If the post "had" pictures, or information about ZF axles in a vehicle, people would find it interesting.

POST 'EM

Well, now that you have a camera available from at least 2 sources, post the pics, I'd like to see them also. They haven't even decided to be unfriendly yet, it could have been a lot uglier. I'd like to hear more about the ZF's. Later.

I agree. These guys have not been that ugly to you. Do some reading and you will see how most newbs are treated. I for one. Just post your pics. If they are sweet like you say they are and provide some descent tech behind the install, you will get mad props, Im sure....now run along and snap some pics. Send them to my email. I will post them for you. You need a red star to post them.

Peace

KC
