I recently busted my driver side RCV when I came up a ledge turned hard to the left. I emailed their warranty department and had all of the replacement parts in 1.5 days. Super awesome customer service.

The 300m cage let loose and took out the inner star and the bell; it also mushroomed the end of the inner shaft a bit. I have right at 38-40 degrees of steering with a 8.75” ram tucked back into the axle. We thought I might have been over steering the CV, but the rep at RCV said 40* should be fine. I thought their limit is around 42 degrees from what I have read online...however, this rep stated 40* was their max angle.

I personally think this was a result of the cage windows opening up but who knows.

Had a good time out at Katemcy Rocks in Mason, Tx for their memorial run.

Broke the cv on the front midship. I’m gonna put together another midship without a cv with the extra Toyota parts I already have. I’ll be going all 1410 when this stuff goes boom.

Uh oh is right
On a positive note, here is a clip from a climb up “Fred Fencestone” over Memorial Day at Katemcy Rocks in Mason, Tx.

Back to the damage...besides a blown p/s pump, it is all cosmetic—thankfully.

I tried to play Robby Gordon a little too hard I was way too aggressive on my first lap around the course. I ate some humble pie, and am now a better driver now for it. Large berm hairpin turn, hindsight shows I should have been up the berm. Instead, I stayed low. When we slid from throttle—the driver rear hooked the berm and we went down driver side...rolled on the nose, then onto the passenger side.

My darn GoPro decided to cut off right before the roll, so unfortunately no video of that:

Here are a few laps around Rally Ready’s track in Dale, Tx. This was taken after the roll:

I think I am going to redo the rear portion of the chassis subframe for better geometry, and to tuck the trailing arms inboard. It gets too hot down here during the summer, so I might just take these next few months to change some things and paint it.

How did you finish the tube? Is it just scotch brited with wd-40, or clear coated?

FYI I got a mountain bike shock pump +/- 300psi to bleed air bumps with a no air loss lever lock thing from amazon like $35.

Nice buggy!

Thx man. It has been a wd40 and scotch-bright labor party after each weekend of fun. I had planned to run it this way for a bit to leave room for any changes or additions.

I currently am tearing it down to change up the subframe, seat-mounts, and rear trailing arm mounts with shock mounts. Basically, I feel like I could execute it all differently to save weight, and to streamline the subframe.

The chassis will get blasted and some Steel-It in black will coat it.

I'm curious to see what you end up doing for the seat mounts.

I am thinking of ways to allow the transmission to come out the top. Tim offers a sweet seatmount, but it occluded any space that’s would let me drop the transmission in from the top. The lower, removable, portion of the subframe is going away...it is just too tight.

At least these are my preliminary thoughts as I tear it down.

Gotcha.

My Evo has the classic subframe and I love the fact the trans and T-Case drops down. I have Tim's seat mounts and they make life easy.

Thank you

Both!

Subframe is getting stretched towards the rear...seat mounts are going to be trimmed up in favor of something that gives easier access to plumbing and all the other vitals that live in the subframe.
