just had some quoted last week.

$5 a foot for 1.75 x .120 from the usual supplier here. Using my employers account had no effect at all on the price.

tried another source,

$9 a foot for the same.

stainless is ridiculous. I need some 10" tube, every source i can find locally is ~ $200 a foot.

I tried to source some stainless plate the other day and it was way to high... same with alum.

I have a local salvage yard that has a ton of stainless and alum sheets though...

My local supplier's pricing has gone up 25% across the board. Their prices have been flat for the last 3 years.

I quoted around and found a place about 30 miles away that still had decent prices. I'll stick with them until something changes.

Was looking at buying a piece of custom built equipment, they told me the price will likely go up 10% by the end of summer because of steel costs... as in $5000ish more.

Though if that cost is going to the USA steel industry versus supporting China, I'm for it.

Did they switch to US-made steel, or just pay an import tariff and pass it on to you? My bet is you're just paying more taxes now.

Not sure.

I get the feeling it's more them just increasing the price with that ans an.excuse. I had a catalog from 2014 and just in that time frame the price went up almost $5k.

I haven't noticed much price difference in steel locally but I haven't bought much either.

Anyone have an East Coast supplier in the Tri-State area ? "Roll Cage Components" has 1.75 x .120 listed at $4.09/Ft. but they are in CA (and that seems too low ?). Otherwise, I've only seen Allmetals Inc. @ $8.75 for 2" plus $100 shipping, or Stock Car Steel in NC for $7.59.

Pacemaker is dropping off 1.75x.120 next Monday at $5.50 ft. 1.50x.25 at $11.50ft. They have always been the cheapest for me. Metal super market near me gets it from them and price is pretty much doubled. The plate and dom has gone up about 35% since mid January.

Called back, apparently 2" .120" DOM is 3.75 a foot at JP steel... the ,25 is more due to them needing to head to the yard.

Whats crazy is the wild price variances.
In STL, MO after calling around for 1.75 .120 wall DOM, found anywhere from $5.90 to $25 per foot.
