Used to get pretty decent prices here. Haven't ordered anything in about 10 years, so who knows,
but worth a shot I guess for anyone looking near the Newark NJ area.

Around here regular steel is no issue, if you need DOM you'd be better off running through gen-pop in San Quentin coated in KY than asking for a price!
I needed 4ft for my drag link and had to order it from Ruff-Stuff. 71.60 shipped to GA for 4ft of 1.5"X.25 wall.

I order some stuff from Barnes not so long ago. They were way cheaper for 2 short lengths of .250 wall than local even with shipping.

Where from? I'm in the Louisville area an best I've found for 1.75x.120 is around 8.50 a foot. Online I can find it for around 4 or 5 but only in 8 ft sticks. I'm building a cage and need longer

I buy EMJ when I'm getting 6 pieces or more. The discount ramp RAPIDLY from 1-2, 2-4, and 4-6, then start to level off. Maybe only a few percent discount to jump from 6-10 sticks. I bet 1 stick (don't even try anymore and haven't in a long time) is $6/ft in 1.75x.120, and 6 sticks of the same is likely $3.20 shipped to my shop (as I just bought this many recently and the price was at or just over $3)

It depends greatly on the salesman quoting too. I rechecked my quote and it was for 2 sticks delivered, and came out to $3.68/ft delivered actually.

We have a very competitive market here in Louisville. Metal salespeople are here about once a week.

For reference, Jan 2019, Northern Colorado, 1.75" x 0.120" DOM, US made - $4.75/foot, 10 sticks. Delivered.

Last time I bought from EMJ, admittedly about 3 years ago it was less than $2/ft

Was able to pass along the cost increase to the customer. Have several hundred feet of 1.75 x 0.095 DOM in my storage unit, and will be charging updated prices on projects going forward. Probably still in the hole if you consider cost of cash outlay several years ago plus rent/storage.

Are we blaming Trump? Tariff's? Climate Change?

Not sure who we blame but all steel started ramping up just over a year ago, climbed all summer and leveled off in the Fall. I went from about $.39/lb on grade 50 sheet and beam to about $.61 in 6 months. It has settled back in to the just over $.50/lb range. The 40cent steel stuff lasted several years too, that was great, cheap plate and $1.85 DOM. Seems the middlemen sales people are opportunistic. 50% increase. Ok, that's a lot, put it in the bid. DOM is going from sub $2 to well over $3. Now that math doesn't add up.

Iffin you want sources for DOM this place I bought some heavy wall square tubing may be a good source for what you all here call DOM tubing.

Don't remember the name of the guy I ordered my product from, just ask for sales.

Totten Tube in Azusa California and a few other locations.

A 17' stick of 1.75 1/8 wall DOM is $133 here.

A 20' stick of 1.75 .11 gauge ERW is $56.

If I could get these prices id buy 200 ft. Even with half DOM and half ERW(which I'd rather not even do) I'm still getting quoted 600+ for 100 foot and that's me picking it up! I haven't called EMJ though, maybe I need to talk the bossman into stocking up on tube because regular Joe price is astronomical.

I found what I was after for 5.71 a foot that's about the best I could do. Not to mad about it, better than 11!
