STaK 3 speed fix it shaft group order!

I am putting together one thread to centralize all of the details for the Trail Worthy Fab fix it shaft order. I talked with Andy today about the details and we both agreed its best to get this all into one place.

First an overview: This is a replacement center shaft designed by TWF for the 3 speed monster box only. It's purpose is to fix the widespread issue of the middle range popping out of gear under load.

Now for some important details:

1) This is the ONLY replacement part offered by TWF for the STaK case. They are not affiliated with STaK and did this on their own to try to help out customers of theirs who were left with a very expensive but only half working transfer case.

2) Andy asked that we get 20 orders minimum to even make this worth their time. This is completely reasonable, they are going to be making almost no profit on this and doing us a huge favor in producing these. That is not to say we can not order more. This is probably the only run of these that they will produce, so if you want in its now or never.

3) To get things rolling everyone will have to pre-pay TWF for the shaft. These are custom "build to order" so there will be no returns. Think of this as no different than having a custom part built at a machine shop.

4) There are some discrepancies internally on the STaK cases. Unfortunately we do NOT know when or why some cases had a slightly different shaft. The fix it shaft only works with the most popular option. I have attached a photo on how you can tell if it will work for you. If you are not willing to open your case to confirm you have this style, then it is purchase at your own risk. A vast majority are this style though.

5) Based off of how long it is going to take to order the material, machine the shafts and then send them for heat treating Andy estimated a 2 month lead time once the final order is placed. Considering most of us have been waiting for years this is no big deal!

6) Andy is going to check material prices but when they originally offered these they ran $375 a shaft, so that should be ballpark on what they will be.

This is a list of people who have shown interest. If you have not updated your name to confirmed, please do that! If you are not on the list and want to purchase one, add your name and mark it as confirmed! Once we get a finalized count over the next week or so I will email and update here everyone that is confirmed to call TWF and place their order. Remember we need at least 20! We have about 15 confirmed right now!

I wish someone would make some replacement gears for the stak. I blew up the front high range gear. Has been sitting apart in a box for couple years now. I sent mine off to stak and had them fix it and it was great right up until it wasn't anymore. Replaced it with a Hero 3 speed. No problems with that , great product.

I think you need to highlight in this post that it's only for the Monster, not the Mini, before all those posts clutter up this post.

It's only for the monster case.

Yeah I was going to try and link the diagram drawings stak used to have but their website is now totally down.

Basically the monster box is a lot bigger, the mini is more like atlas sized

How difficult is it to split the case apart? Is there a blow by blow on a rebuild or is it like rebuilding a manual transmission easy.

Does the gear ratios matter? I have a brand new, 10yr old,!never ran case. I pray that it doesn't have this problem

Gear ratio does not matter. Every case that I have been around eventually developed the issue

The case is super easy to pull apart, there is a youtube vid on it, sorry I dont have the link but it is in the Stak thread...the 45 page one. CNCdude posted it if I remember right.

UPDATE:

We have 18 people confirmed and 2 of us have offered to buy 2 to make it to 20, so we should be good to go.

I will talk to Andy so we can start setting up how to pay TWF. I think we should leave the window to pay open for at least a week so if more people want in there is a bit more time.

Just emailed Andy @ TWF - he said we can go ahead and start calling him to place individual orders for the shafts. Each person will have their own invoice etc...

Once we hit the 20 shaft mark he will order materials and get the ball rolling.

If you are one of the people who said if need be they would buy 2, wait a bit so we can see where we end up after a few days so you do not unnecessarily purchase multiple.

I also added a paid column on the google sheet, so once you pay please add the date of when you paid there.

I think I've changed my mind on payment moving forward.

I would like to hold on to your info before I do the payment. It could be months until everyone gets their ducks in a row. So I started a file with all the info coming in. Once we get to 10-15 pre-orders I will call everyone back and verify they still want to move forward before I process all the payments.

This way everything stays together nice and neat.

Yes. I've talked to 2 people so far and one gave me CC info. So we have 1 tentatively paid up.

I don't want to run cards and only 8 people come in then I have to refund everyone. So hoping to get closer to the 20 mark before I start pushing cards through.

If you call the shop I will keep track of all the info. If you want to update the thread for who has paid it will be up to the customer to update you. I won't hand out customer info.

He is right though, they have been very strict about this in the past. I would probably run it by Roxy or someone before going any farther. It wouldn't do much good to get in the middle of this and then everyone take a forced vacation .
