ok, is there any way i can get my POS registered for something like trail only? i called the dmv and of course they weren't helpful at all (govt employees with worst attitude ever). all i need is to find a way to get around passing emissions, i never drive this thing on the road, and trailer it everywhere. any of you guys have any suggestions?

Does GA have emmisions testing in all cities or just Metro areas like TN? I had to register my Jeep in the town where my parents live due to my living in Nashville (Metro) and the Jeep having a fuel cell. If you are only tested near Atlanta just register it in another county. What's the problem that's keeping you from passing?
If ALL you are worried about is emmisions then tune it up, slap on a new cat, and pass emmisions.

yeah its just around metro atl. i used to live out in west ga, carroll county, and got my old jeep registered there w/o emissions. mainly, i just don't want to deal with trying to pass emissions, theres no point since this thing will never see road. emissions here is a PITA to pass. plus i know it would be probably a helluva lot cheaper to reg. it as some sort of off road only vehicle.

It has to have a tag to be legal in the OHV's here.

What year is the Jeep? As long as it has a cat and running right it should pass. It's not really a big deal to get them to pass in Metro area. It will need to be roller tested. If it's FI make sure it has a stock thermostat, good plug wires, working EGR, Cat and O2 sensor. If it's FI you can get away without the airpump even. Air pump on FI only operates when it's open loop.

see thats the thing, it doesn't have a cat, and i don't want to spend $xxx amount of money to get this thing to pass, its not worth the hassle, then i gotta tow it up to a fawkin emiss. place and unload it, get it tested, then if it doesnt pass i gotta spend $xxx to get a sticker etc etc etc, which is a huge pain in the ass taht i don't wanna deal with. do farmers have to get their tractors registered around here? isn't there some kind of off-road only registration?

My buddy registered a 78 Luv with a 350 shoe horned in it and a Mr. Gasket Bug catcher as a "Farm Vehicle" to his inlaws (ex GA State Patrol) in Bartow Co land. No emmsions if it's registered as farm BUT if you get nailed it could be a steep fine.

That's the only way I know around it.

If you trailer it there you will Fail...I can guarantee that. It needs to be good and hot before you test it. Find some tires that will get it back to close the same RPM the engine was running stock.

Cat is $50 from Auto Zone. If it has the rest of the gear then it would still be the cheap way to go.

Don't know anything about GA, but I've seen guys here in CO that get an OHV tag for their rigs like you would put on a dirtbike/ATV/boat. My dirtbike OHV tags here are $15, no insurance, etc.

cool, i'll have to check that one out, thats kind of the answer i was lookin for. the lady on the phone was probably the least helpful/most depressed person i've ever talked to, i guess i'll just have to swing by the local office and see what they say.

put an old tag on the thing and go to the park, just make sure to trailer it!!! im in rome, so i dont have to worry about it.

If you know someone who owns a place where emissions can be done, then just talk to them, under the table kind of stuff.

All of this is illegal, but it might work.

In California I registered our truck with a green sticker (OHV usually for dirtbikes) I went in person and they argued with me about it. I showed pictures that it wasn't a truck any longer (it's all tube) and the lady had to look up the regs. Be persistant. I'm sure they have the same thing there. It's $25 here for 2 years. But if you get caught in the road you can get it impounded. I've seen rigs get pulled over on the way to the rubicon and ticketed for no registration or OHV only vehicles on the road. The forest services guys at an OHV park told me what to ask for when I went in to DMV.
