Problems with superior? Anyone else?

Just wanted to see how long it has taken other people to get thier stuff from superior. It took 6 weeks to get stuff they had in stock and I gave up at 8 weeks on the inners. I would not have even ordered them but Ron said he would get them to me in no more than a week. So I passed on some in stock, in town warn stuff. When I gave up they were no longer in stock so I ordered some indiamoly from randys. I am glad that I atleast have the superoir stubs since I have been breaking stock stubs.

Jake,
my apologies - there is a lot to the explanation, but this isn't the time nor place. I sent you a pm, I sincerely regret the situation with your axle delivery.

For the record: I started Superior 7 years ago - I left last week.

Ron

?? Care to elaborate, or is it not something you wanna tell the board....

:edit: or did you just decide to retire from it all? Just curious as you've been helpful when people have shaft related problems and it'd suck to see you go...

Thought about retiring to the beach in Baja...

Fish one day, trade extra fish for beer, food and TP, drink until fish/beer runs out, start over.

BUT...I checked the bank account and it screamed NOT YET!

Seriously, I've been doing this for 20 years and still enjoy it. The reasons for leaving Superior are many, some mine and others best left behind for now. I plan to go public with my new gig in a few weeks!

Braxton - thanks for the kind words. I try and help when I can.

GearMan - I'll get in touch soon.

Bruce - looking for a Jeep right now. I need to get it ready for rubicon in July.

Ron

I just picked up my superiors two weeks ago. I think they took 4 weeks from when I ordered to the time I received them. Actually I think they only took 3 weeks, I did not order the CTMs until the shafts came in.

Hey Jake,

I apologize about the delay you had with getting your custom fronts. Go ahead and P.M. me with the details and i will get back with you about your situation. Due to the overwhelming demand of our 60 and 44 fronts, we did have about a 6 week window when we were not making any custom's at all beacause we were behind on the forgings.

Good News! Production has stepped it up and we have plenty of blanks ready to be turned. Our standard leadtime for custom 60 and 44 Chrome Moly front axle shafts is 3-4 weeks. We will reduce that to 2 weeks Starting July 6th.

Too bad they were not custom shafts. Just stock replacements. The order was from inland truck in kansas city. PO was "per Ron"

If it had been custom parts I would completely understand. I just wanted to let other people know what to expect. My stubs were in stock at the time of order and they still took 6 weeks before they shipped... It was my fault because I should have bought the in stock warns but I was trying to see what type of product superior had for a little less money.

I will let everyone know how my yukon inners hold up if I have problems in the future.
Thanks, Jake

Gearman,

All d-60 outers have rolled splines as well as any other production axle we manufacture that has fine involute type splines.

All front inner and rear floaters are hobbed. Reason is set-up. To set up to roll one pair of axles takes approx 1 hour. Not to efficient. We have a dedicated hob for both the d-44 30 spline and the d-60 35 spline. All splining is done before the heat treat process.

By the way mike, welcome to the board. Does that make you top guy now or are you still going to be top dog of the production?

Superior axle problems

I ordered Superior chromolly axle shafts 2 times (From Adventurous 4x4).
First time was early April. They kept pushing back on shipping.. then when they finally arrived.. they shippwed Wagoneer not scout D44 front shafts.

Attempt #2. Ordered SCOUT shafts.. waited 3 weeks... they were Guarnteed to be there on June 3rd. My Parts guy called to get shipping data on June 1 and was given a person to person run around. He called 3 times and was shuffled to several people who claimed they were shipped out but no one could give him shipping data or tracking numbers..

I quickly got a set of WARN shafts on order and had them in in 3 days.
Thursday (one week later) the Superior shafts arrived..

The errors all compounded on each other. The wrong D44 shafts were annoying but would have been no problem if the next order had arrived.. The capper was the total NON helpfullness on the question of shipping.
