Volvo Portal Locker Engagement - Best Option?

I have a used set of the factory vacuum actuators, and also a par of the cable lockers (just need the cables).

Is one way better/easier/more reliable than the other?

Not sure how to control the vacuum actuators and have heard that doing cable controls is tricky to get just the right "throw" to engage them.

Thoughts or ideas?

Swap the vacuum actuators out for air cylinders and run on air. That's what I would do. Added benefit of gaining onboard air of some sort if not already present. I've never had any luck with anything vacuum on a 4x4 system...

Honestly, I'm not sure what I'm looking at? Is the long actuator controlling the locker? I'm looking for something a little more compact.

But I certainly appreciate your input.
