JHF-Goatbuilt Chassis

Building a JHF-Goatbuilt chassis for a buddy. Figured I start a thread on here.
Specs
Stroked LS1
th400
Atlas 3.0
9" axles, all Spidertrax
MEGA Hi-9's
14" FOX IPB's
39" Krawlers
110" WB
82" Wide

Started on it a few weeks ago. Rear axle is cut down, link mounts on, and rear shocks mounted. Motor and trans, and case are mounted.

Sounds like it'll be a blast. Do you know the manufacturer and model of your bead locks (the ones in the first few pictures, not the orange-ish one in the last picture)?

Fuel Off-Road. Great wheel with a forged outer ring.

Rear end is finished and read for final welding. Got the front end cut down and shock and lower link mounts in place.

I don't think this chassis is ideal for portals. Unless you like a buggy that is 8' tall.

I dig the portal axles. But with the way this chassis is designed. It'd be hard to keep it low enough.

Kyle's is far from finished. My car has 9" axles with 7" of uptravel. I had to notch the frame to get that up travel. I'm at 70-71" to the roof. Portals are about 6" taller? So if he also notched the frame. He's got 1" of uptravel? I'm also on 37" tires.

The GB chassis is 52" from subframe to roof line. When I was building car I had talked to Jesses about portals. He said sure, but the car will sit pretty tall.

Just repeating what I read, it looked like it had 4-5" uptravel. iirc the portals are 4-5" taller?

I get it. Some of the issues with this chassis are uptravel and link separation. To get one you have to sacrifice the other. The rear you have a bar that limits uptravel of the upper links. The front you have the winch mount and engine mounts. This car will see some high speeds. So it needs a solid 7" of shaft showing. I'd like to have a roof line of 72", that means a belly of 20" with 7" of shaft on a 39" tire.

3.9"

I had to do a 9" raise in my frame rails to clear my portals at full stuff with 45" tires

Looking good, what are your thoughts on a Jeep 4.0 fitting in there?

I'd be tight up front. Would have to go rear radiator.

Looks great! Must only be able to do HP thirds in front?

BTW, did you have the front IBPs converted to external resi? I saw there was a top cap available for that.

My car has a LP in the front, and piggy back reservoir. This car has remote reservoirs.

This car has a HP front and rear. No problem with a 2 piece shaft up front.
