Can I use Ultra Grey for spindle gaskets?

I replaced my axles, and destroyed brand new paper gaskets on my axle spindles. There are inner and outer paper gaskets on my Toy pickup. Can I get away with using ultra grey for a gasket instead of buying a complete $100 set just for these damn paper gaskets?

Empty case of beer and a pair of scissors to make the new gaskets, drink the beer first.

Yeah the ultra grey will work fine...its not like the paper gaskets were great at sealing anyways...

Use a cereal box or empty case of beer. Paper gaskets seal and are used for proper spacing of drivetrain components.

Not so critical on an axle though.

FWIW I am currently running nothing and don't leak. Just steel flange to hub face. I took the hubs off and had them turned on a lathe, however, to remove any high spots and make them flat. I've raced EMC at KOH 3 times like that and they haven't leaked. (knock on wood).
