I'd love to see some dimensions for this. if it could fit a tj better than an nv4500 that would be killer but based on the weight listed on tremec's website i'd assume its between the nv3550 and nv4500 in size

I can't believe there is still a market for aftermarket manual transmission swaps.
Yes, I get it, some people like them, it's just when 95% of the people out there are swapping in automatics, it seems like a huge cost to design a manual.

Hasn't RS gear been selling these as a nv4500 replacement for a while?

At least that's what I always guessed it was based on ratios.

They probably sell this for OEM applications outside North America. Slap on a cable shifter and it can go behind some anemic diesel in a box truck.

And an Eaton 5spd is really just an old Clark with a different logo on the tag.

5% of us can still drive.
what I cant understand is why they still give us 1940s technology in manual transmissions. nothing new has been released in my lifetime.
a mini 18 speed with dog rings would be perfect...anyone have a line on a 6613?

Yeah 5% of us still can drive......no coolers , or wires required. We know its old school...

my last kid is the only one out of all his friends ( and there's a lot of them fuckers ) that can drive a stick! Never has to worry about stealing something he can't drive....

So that box appears to have been in production for awhile and used by OEMs, so how is it now suddenly at EJS as sort of a new thing? Was there some exclusive deal just with OEMs before? I saw too at RS Gear you can buy one. but how much$$$

I like seeing options as I too prefer manuals in a lot of things. Not crazy about the split between 1st and 2nd though. I know everyone gets giddy about granny gears, but I prefer the deep gearing in the transfer case. Personally, I like first to be in the mid to high 4ís as I find them more useful. 6ís are rarely used. And yes I grew up driving old school 4spds and hated the granny to second split.

I have a truck with an NP435, which has similar ratio's. For me the issue is the 3rd-4th split. Rev it or lug it, there is a stretch of road speeds that the engine isn't happy in either gear, particularly loaded in rolling hills. For the money, I'd like to add an auxiliary overdrive, which can be used to split the existing gears.

I was going to say that the ratios kinda suck. With all the options for low geared transfercases do people really want a granny 1st? I feel like a closer ratio 5 spd with a ~4:1 1st or a 6 spd with a granny would be more useful.

The price isnít much more than a rebuilt nv4500. If itís tad more compact that would be cool.

The gear split I donít think is bad. In my nv4500 Iím geared deep in diffs. Sand\snow I run high and use first. Rocks first and low in the case. Around town I can start in 2nd. I agree I wish second was a little lower. 6 to 1 first and 4 to 1 second would be ideal.

What oem applications did these come in?

Would you mind sharing the price you're comparing to a rebuilt NV4500 and the source of the price you're using for the new tremec unit? I have 3 sm465/ ranger combinations and would be interested in this unit.

Iím just looking at the above link from ebay it was $2500. Iíve seen nv4500ís rebuilt on Craigslist for $1700-1800. Advanced is asking $2300 for a rebuilt nv4500 no core charge.

The 3rd/4th split in that trans (or an old 4spd) is a non-issue with a modern engine with a nice wide modern power band.
