SM465 / 203/ 205 all 32 spline

We got a build going on 76 chevy k10 350 4 speed 205 Dana 44 front 14 bolt rear around 10 inch lift and 38s. I got lots of random parts but we wanna do a doubler and stick to a 4 speed ORD changed there site around and now it's got us confused. So they have a short 32 spline shaft for the 465 from ORD and I have a 32 spline 203 but the adapter to go between the two I'm not sure of. They have a dana 300 adpater they say you just drill the 203 to match? The double for the 205 is simple enough just I haven't seen the short 32 spline shaft version put together, just the long 32 shaft version of the 465. Has anyone on here done this? Or have any pictures, just trying to go as short as possible in a short box chevy

I read the first sentence and that’s where I stopped.

Why people put D44s in front of 14b’s is beyond me. A V8 and 38s is gonna shred a D44.

Well. It was a factory combo for 18 years
Ya dont always need a d60.
And sometimes you just got to run what you got.

Fwiw im building a cj for totalgirlfriend with this entire setup. D44 14bff sbc 465 203 205 and will be running 36" @ 4k lbs

Iirc. The 32spl shorty is a clone of the 10spl output so that you could use the oe 465/203 adapter.

A d300 adapter could work but now youll have to plug and redrill the 203 case face.

Oh nice. I found a couple factory adapters from ebay. It was kinda pricey but I get the rare factor. I'll snag the shaft get the tranny thrown together. I'd rather get that factory adapter that would be sweet, guess I can always sell it if not n buy the dana 300. Re drilling holes ain't bad sense gotta gut the 203 anyway. Thanks tho I'll throw some pictures when I get it all around and the process.

I have the same setup. The dana 300 adaptor is a little shorter. It wouldn't work on my set up unless I cut 1/2" off my 465 output shaft and I installed the short shaft. Not sure sure if I had a short input shaft. I ended up using factory bracket.

What gears you running?

Don't listen to him Larry. I'm running a high pinion Dana 44 with a Detroit, SBC, SM420 and 38" Swampers in a 4000lb rig. I been wheeling the piss out it for 20 years. In all those years of hard wheeling I've only broken a hub. Not everyone needs a D60.

Perhaps Iím biased to the fact my 44 was a money pit that always managed to grenade at the worst of times.

To bad, my experience is It's a stout axle. I'm sure I could break it if I tried to but so far it's held up to a lot of abuse.

They have a limit. I rocked mine for a couple years. Then i put a 465 and 36 tsls on a 7k lb truck. Wrecked it every trip.

Weight. Hp. Tire size and traction. All add up.

Hell that ain't to bad. Rite coulda bwen a tad longer by mistake. I'll definitely try to find the factory bracket.

Running 456 gears deciding on putting a locker in for it or waiting for the 60

For WIW I have a factory adapter and a rebuilt 203 range box sitting under my bench that was built for either a 2wd or a divorced t-case. Where you located?

I have a 465/203/205 set up. I'm not familiar with the short 32 spline version but that would have been nice back when I put mine together. All I can add is that, yes you have to drill and tap the face of the 203 for the adapter to work. I used a (rare to me) 465/205 adapter for a long shaft 32 spline.
