I hate welded diffs but I'd sooner weld it than run a POS Lock Rite. We had so many fail I don't sell them anymore. Do yourself a favor and put your money towards the ARB.

I just caught the price, I don't think anyone would want to trade for a spool

Good, weld yours then. In the mean time I'll keep pounding on my lock-right.

is this something that's come up lately? or has it been an ongoing problem? Or are you judging this on a smaller axle?
I installed my front lock right in 1996 (D60) & have never had a problem. It's survived through being a 7000lb pig on 35s & 38s & at it's current state with 42s but down to about 6000lbs. It's been ran hard & abused many times & has never let me down, even through 3 broken axles.

Wink

It has been a recent issue. I have a 7 year old unit in one truck and not a days trouble. The problems I've had with them seem to be in the heat treating as the corners of the teeth are chipping in a layered manner, it looks like a surface hardened part that is deteriorating. I have tried to work the problem out, I always used new cases and the recommended crosspin but success was not achieved. This has happened on 30's through 60's. Maybe they corrected the problem, after what it cost me I won't be finding out first hand. Just my opinion...based on experience.
