What brand coilover are you using?

How did you decide what brand coil over to buy? I am getting ready to tube the rear end of the toyota and was wondering what kind and brand to use.

I called up Tony K at Rock Equipment and told him my setup and what I wanted to get out of it and he sent me some 2" SAWs.

i got fox 16's because it was mentioned to me that they had better customer service. which is funny because i stopped by the SAW booth at the offroad expo in pomona and the guy standing there didnt know anything and gave the excuse, "im just a welder".

that along with a few "problems" mentioned throughout the board here about the SAW's. they were also a little cheaper too.

We've run Swayaway's Racerunner's on quite a few different trucks and always had good luck with them. Honestly, they're all pretty similar on the inside unless you're talking about race-quality shocks. The SAW's do have the shortest collapsed eye-to-eye lengths of all the mfg's; sometimes that's important and sometimes it's not.

Let me guess...... 200/250.......? right?

This has been gone over before...... IMO, it really comes down to price, availablility, and customer service.

16" Fox.

Coz PIG told me to

But seriously...shop them all, they are all pretyy similar but there are small differences...I like the quality of the sliders and some other small details on the Fox. Plus I like the idea that Fox listen and respond...see the thread about more threaded area on the body of the newer Fox....nice to see.

Hey Piglet.....can a guy buy just a longer threaded replacement body if he wanted to?

14" SAW's They work, were on sale, I bought them. I CANNOT reccomend anyone else buying some though.

I have friends with Kings ($) but they are never messing with them. Another Bud has SAW's with the typical "tape" fix on his rig...
You are doing the right thing by researching and looking around. Good luck!

Speak of the devil...

I remember some guy claiming to be from SAW posting on here a while back on how "They are gonna do this, and that, and take the shock market by storm"

Yeah, that panned out

Nilla: Mel might be wanting your SAW's if you are thinking of upgrading. PM me if you're interested.

"I" hate the bottom retaining cup, and the slider (nylon piece) that sits between the springs. If it was 3" long on both sides, it would work, instead of reseating springs all the time The hose for the reservoir is a joke, it is too short to really do anything with, and fixed pipe thread fittings are a nice touch too (for repositioning) NOT

Yes, I know that these things can be fixed, I can, and probably will make a new slider piece, I think there are fixed cup ends available, and I have made my own hoses.

But as far as buying and "bolting on"........
no way

King, SAW, Bilstein and Fox are all color choices. Poly WOULD NEVER sell a bad product. (In my experience they are a damn good vendor) Each brand has small advantages/disadvantages. Don't sweat it if you have SAW's.

unless you are hitting the dessert an 100 mph they will all work fine. i have installed many saws with pretty good luck. some nitrogen leakage. if i had unlimited funds, i would run king "pure race" shocks. they have better seals, etc.
