35 spline dana 60 rear

I picked up a dana 60 full foating rear axle the other day that has 30 spline shafts and i have heard that you can install 35 spline axle shafts if you bore out the spindles. So how much would the spindles need to be bored out? and what do you use to bore them out?

Just get a 1.75" holesaw bit and run it through the center of the spindle, no need to take it to a machine shop.

Thats about the dumbest thing I've heard this month! The OD on the spindle, assuming its not a tapered one, is a ~1.98, that leaves a meager .23. Take it to a machine shop and get it bored to 1.63, at least that way you get an extra 1/8th of material back. Not to mention trying to run a hole saw in there straight will more than compromise the integrity of the spindle if you get off just the slightest bit... Do it right, have it bored to 1.63, the ID of a D70 spindle.

That sarcasm is probably why a lot of repeated topics come back. The next guy to search will probably find a lot of sarcastic and non sensable info. A newbie may not have the expertise to figure out what is right and what is wrong so he will end up posting a new thread and the cycle will start all over again. So maybe instead of being sarcastic just let the thread fall to the bottom and maybe you'll get less asking of the same question.

There is ATLEAST one thread per week regarding 35 spline rear Dana 60s. And each week, people post links that show you the exact measurements and dimensions of what the spindle should be. And each following week, there is a new thread about 35 spline Dana 60 rearends. So how exactly does posting the answer help anyone?

That's why I do it. Each time I make fun of some dumbass like you and my post count goes up one, my penis gets one inch bigger. Right now, my dick is big enough to fuck your wife from my back porch.

check your hubs...some of them, like the hd60's, already are big enough.

My axle is a hd60, and the hubs measured 1.640 from the factory.

The axles were not 35 spline, but the hubs will accept the new 35 spline axles sitting in the garage easily.
