As long as the gear ratio for the carrier is correct

Well, Tuesday it is....

The answer is 'maybe'. What gears are in the ford vs. what gears are in your axle? The D44 locker has a large and small carrier which splits between 3.73 and 3.92 gears. After that you have to worry about the spline count on the chevy vs. ford shafts. Odds are that the spline count is different, but you might get lucky.

'Sounds like you're in luck.

You'd be best served by buying a Pirate Red Star. This will enable the search function for you and enable you to do some research. It's the best $20 you'll ever spend.

Happy Tuesday.

x2, you will find more information here than in all of the back issues of all the rags combined, and that 20.00 bucks spent here is a whole lot cheaper than the rag subscriptions, so donate the 20 and search, as far as your question goes since they both have 4.10's check the spline count, if they are the same, you should be in luck.

yes it will fit. any D44 carrier will work in any D44.
yes there is a different carrier for ratios 3.92-5.89, but they all use the same carrier bearings & all have 30 splines. this applies to both front & rear axles.

How so?

The carrier works in HP or LP, it's the split that matters. That and if you've really old axles or a locker, coarse splines dont' work in fine splines.

But, but the split...Ok, ok... but the ICA is not seen that often... but just to cover myself.
Model 44 3.73 and Down 3.92 and Up
Model 44 ICA 1984 & earlier 3.73 and Down 3.92 and Up
Model 44 ICA 1985 & later 2.87 and Down 3.07 and Up
