That's weird seeing them both in the same pictures, there probably showing the big man up there how to wheel at this very moment.

does anyone know if there is only one donation fund or are there more then one? i thought i had read that there was going to be a fund for the family & one to finish building his rig.
either way i'll be sending the $$$ i have so far on friday.

Go to his memorial site, jasonpaynememorial.com, there is information for the fund. You could also contact his family from that page.

I didn't know Jason personally. I was lucky enough to see some of the great things he built and posted here on the board. He had pure talent which I know I do not have to point out. My prayers go out to the family.

I never had an opportunity to meet him but I know exactly the feeling he had at the end. I was razzed into swimming to an island in a high mountain lake. I made it half way and knew I wouldn't make it so I started turning back and made it within about 50 feet of shore before I started going under. I'm lucky there were people that got to me in time...barely in time. It only seemed like a short distance but that cold water really drags you down. It's frightening to read about this and it brings back chilling memories.

RIP.

I'm so sad after watching that video. It just ain't right. Jason was such an inspiration.

If not for Jason and others like him, I doubt I'd even be going to engineering school.

This world will never be the same.

Very sad indeed. I read through the thread and can only wish i had a chance to meet him before this tragedy. Everyone that knew him talks about how nice, giving caring and just an all around good guy he was.

I watched his build up and was hoping to possibly shoot it as a feature for the mag. His fab work and ideas were great! I loved that he was taking a full sized and getting it!

I wll remember him through what his family and friends have posted here on the PBB, and will think of him just as you have all described him when I see pics, here about him and get to go out and enjoy the thing he loved so much.

RIP Jason. You're family and friends are in my families prayers.

I was talking with Fred tonight and I shared a thought with him that I need to share with all.

The first weekend I had my RV, I went to JV with Fred, Goat1, Richie and JR. Along for the ride was a nice young kid named Jason. I didn't know Jason, but he let me ride with him. We talked thru clawhammer, and took lines that never existed for smaller vehicles. We started up sledge when the front axle fell out of the beast. Jason rode with Fred, and we headed back to camp. Jason sat between the front seats of the RV on an icechest taking in the drunken stupor that was the rest of us.

Jason was so mellow and nice I found myself really wanting to wheel with him and talk to him again. When I heard what had happened I was in great shock.

I took the RV out last weekend and several times I looked to the front and saw Jason between the front seats.

Jason, I miss the chance to wheel with you again. You were incredibly fun to talk to. When we meet again, I want you to show me all the best trails.

RIP.

Thanks for the story Frank, that is really cool, and you'll have that forever. Very cool.

Wow! I just came back to get updated on his build-up and find this...... Had to read through all the pages....

I have never met Jason, but his fabrication skills at such a young age are priceless. From what I have read about him, he'd want us to keep wheelin, so I'll make sure to stop at Buck Island Lake and tip my hat in tribute when I'm up there in a few weeks.

One thing I added to my rig was a HAM radio a few years back, just remember you don't need a license to use one in an emergency.

Does anyone have an update on how the memorial service went? I heard it was scheduled for yesterday IIRC.

From Willyswanter's Dad,
Quote:
Estimated that well over 200 people came and went during this life changing party. With all the help from so many, the remembrance could not have been better. Jason’s mom and I just hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as we did. What I will always remember most is watching all his wheeling family arrive with long faces and tears in the eyes and leaving telling stories, laughing and naturally, giving each other a hard time. This is what Jason loved about you guys and please don’t change.

Last night I had one concern when leaving the “celebration”; after Fred from 4 Wheel & Off-Road told me they were planning a photo shoot and article on Jason and his truck and I heard several of his friends talking about what they need to do to complete this latest transformation, I was concerned if Jason would want his truck finished by someone other than him or just left as is. This concern was answered this morning when Jason told his mom “just get my baby home and keep her in a safe place; oh by the way, take her out sometime, it’s really fun – But please let someone else drive HA HA, I’ll let you know who I choose later HA HA!”

This let’s me know that Jason approves of everyone’s ideas with regards to completing his “baby” and his mom and I definitely will be taking her out sometime, but not driving. We love all you guys but remember; forget the fat guy in the red suit, Willyswanter’s Dad, the fat guy in the green shirt, is watching you so you better be good boys and girls.

I just read Jason's Memorial Biography by his father. I am more disappointed that I did not get to spend more time with him. At least I was able to meet him and have a few great memories.

I was faxed it today. It is 6 pages long. Perhaps somebody with a scanner can add it? Or I can try when I get home.
