WOW!! this is amazing, I have always loved his big Chevy and was really looking forward to meeting him and wheeling with him at BB07 in Moab a month from now. Prayers from our family to all those affected by this tragic loss.

I just got off the phone with his parents and they have asked me to tell everyone to NOT send flowers. She ask me to get a fund going and make a donation to a cause such as the FOTR or something along those lines. I will keep everyone posted when it is setup.

Wow, I met Jason at blazer bash and was very impressed with both him and his rig. I have been watching the new build thread and was excited to see it next month.

Thanks for the info. It has been passed along to GMFS. here's the donation link over there. http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/show...60#post1447960

Esteban, as Belmont said, we have collected some money for him already. I think the amount will keep increasing, as Jason was an incredible guy and always wanted to help out on the other board. When you get it setup, shoot me a pm here or on GMFS and I will transfer the balance to you. Also if you can let me know (if) where/when his celebration of life will be, it'd be much appreciated.

It's funny how you make a choice not to do something, and then regret it. I was suppose to be up there with the crew and didn't go. I haven't seen Jason for a few months, but wish could have seen him again. You just never know when this kind of thing will happen.

I have calls into all the guys I know on the trip, I will call Esteban when I hear something. My heart goes out to his mom and dad, I can't even fathum having to bury my son. I'm at a loss..

Jason will be missed.

Wow.... when i first read the headline of this thread, i didnt belive it, and was waiting for some one to say it wasnt true, and jason was alive and well...

I remember reading his threads on Coloradok5, years ago, and have watched his rig grow into what it is today...

This fucking sucks, my stomach dropped into my boots...

R.I.P. man. I hope all is well up there...

I don't post much here, mainly read. Anyways when I first started getting into 4X4in I found Jasons truck posted all over the different boards. I followed the build up from truck to pure trail rig. Watched movies from different locations going over the rocks and what not. Had run into questions before and sent a PM to him. Always got back to me quick and very informed answers. I can't beleive this. Such a great guy gone way to soon.

As the song goes, "Only The Good Die Young"

It's been awhile since I last visted his site www.industrialoffroad.com but there are all the old pictures. I never had the privilge to go on a trip with him but by looking at the pictures I felt as if I was there. Check out the pics, he did some amazing things. Great fabricator and imagination.

This Is Brutal.

Jason, You and your rig were inspirations for me to build my first one. I looked up to your build up and enjoyed asking you questions and for direction. If this is true, it is a horrible horrible accident and i am extremely sorry to hear it. RIP Jason, you will be missed

That buggy he dreamed is pretty sweet, and was actually my computer desktop for awhile. Man when I first met him he had a 2wd Chevy extra cab.

Quoting Mr. Kenneth Payne (Jason's Father),

Quote:
I donít know what to do and really donít want to do anything. Jason was on an off road trip with a large number of his friends and they decided to swim to an island in Lake Tahoe and he never made it. His friends pulled him up after about 5 minutes under water, did CPR for about a Ĺ hour until life fight arrived and they continued CPR for another hour before giving up. Esteban came by last night and laid in our driveway and cried for hours, we joined him. Every plan his mom and I had for the rest of our life included Jason, Iím totally lost.

Everyone please remember, he loved four wheeling and loved all the forums and just wanting to help everyone and my God he was a fantastic fabricator; I just loved to watch him work on his truck. Please go to www.jasonpaynememorial.com, all of us in his family would love to hear your thoughts about Jason as well as any photos, movies, links to forums about or by him etc.
I know the website isn't up yet but give it some time.
