5.7 Vortec Idle Issues

This thing had performed flawless for the last 5 years. Early 1999 5.7 in my Cruiser Buggy. Starts quick and easy runs great. The issue is when the motor reaches operating temp and is shut off then restarted while it is still hot. It starts fine but has a very low idle and dies sometimes. Once it runs for about 1 min it's right back to normal and running perfect. My first guess is IAC but I don't want to go guess changing everything. There are no codes stored in the computer. Any thoughts on what may be causing this?

Does it have a catylitic converter? If so maybe clogged. Or clogged fuel filter. Had both happen to me.

No cat and I just changed the fuel filters. The filters were my first guess too

Try removing and cleaning the IAC. I had the same problem in my car and was like you not wanting to just change parts. I pulled it, cleaned it and the throttle body and its been running fine since.

I know you will get all the "this is what fixed mine" replies. So here is another one. Vacumn leak. very small but still will cause the symptoms you describe. Good luck chasing gemlins.
