I'm going to start with the JK stuff and the Ford HP44 since those are most popular. I know some use the same ballpoint and will fit more than one application, but starting with those.
I'm fairly certain the Ford HP Dana 44 Ball joints are the same as the GM Dana 44 BJ's so I'm definitely in for info!

The Super Duty knuckles are machined for the uni ball cup to be welded in, but they are cast steel. The older stuff is mostly cast iron which would require pre/post heat with Ni rod so I'm leery of doing them the exact same way so we'll see what progresses.

I just wanted to bump this to document that I now have the Spicer joints installed. We'll see how long they last.

I kept my old Moog Problem Solvers as well so I can cut them up for the sake of science.

ACDelco 45D2156 Professional Front Lower - $20.54 (On Amazon Today - 11/9/2018
They Carry the same Numbers on the bottoms as both the Raybestos and Napa BJs but are sold at significantly lower prices
Hope this helps people as much as it helped me when searching today!!

Also anyone have an update on how the Blue Boot BJs are holding up 5 years later? lol
I've had Spicer Pro-Grade joints on my Ranger's D44 since way back in 2003 (labeled under the "Spicer" name). They just won't die, still no slop whatsoever last I checked about 3K miles ago (I grease them about every 10K).

I put Raybestos Pro-Grade ones on my BII's D35 in 2008 (the ones I pictured earlier in post #8... pic fixed now, I hope). Also still great.

Both have maybe ~60K miles (and of course lots of offroad/crawling, cycling of the steering back & forth).

A couple years ago however Federal Mogul (maker of Moog) bought out Affinia Group (maker of Raybestos), so I can't say whether any blue/gold joints made today are the same quality as ones of 5+ years ago.

I also did have someone recently report to me that they had great luck with Mevotech "TTX" joints after having constant issues with Moog (the TTX line appears to have green boots). No personal experience though.

So I recently found Ball joints made by ProGrade. They're supposed to be Heavy Duty and according to their website the stud is 4140 Chromoly and the Housing is 1045 (I don't actually know how that compares to other Ball joints lol)

From their website

1,000,000 MILE WARRANTY. You can install our ball joints with confidence knowing that every part we sell is backed by our industry-leading 1,000,000 mile limited warranty. We can offer this because our parts are engineered, tested, re-tested, and subject to strict quality control procedures - our quality is second to none.

CRAZY STRONG BALL JOINTS. Proforged ball joints are built using some of the toughest steel on the planet. Forged SAE4140 chromoly steel studs are enclosed in forged SAE1045 housings, heat treated for strength and durability, and every fit surface is CNC machined for precision fit and finish. Each unit is sealed with specially-designed CR-rubber boots for ultimate durability.

Also their very reasonably priced and available on Amazon

For my Chevy Dana 44
Proforged 101-10149 Greasable Front Upper Ball Joint - $30 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008VMNLGO..._Oj3BCbDC93REZ
and
Proforged 101-10150 Greasable E-Coated Front Lower Ball Joint - $27 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008VQLMVG..._sk3BCbKEKNTT9

I'm curious how these would hold up since Raybestos was bought out by Moog.

Well I took a chance and bought the Spicer Pro-Grade Balljoints and sure enough all 4 balljoints were loose. Shanks spin freely and could even move the shank in the socket with minimal force. All by hand. So returned and going to order the AC Delco ones. When they arrive ill let you guys know how the quality is. Ordering through Amazon so if they're crap now since Moog bought them I can return them easily. Theres also a guy R&Ding Balljoint Eliminators for our style Dana 44s. Well see what he comes up with.

The AC Delco ones are the same as the Blue Boot Napa's but they're $10 cheaper than the Napa Line.

The Delco ones are shorter than the original Spicers I pressed out for a customer.

So the clips don't get installed on the lower balljoints. Measured it up too --- so I *know* it wasn't a seating issue.

What the fuck anymore.

You must have gotten a bad run I guess.
My Delco Blue Boots are the exact same height as the Spicer ones I took off.

Ordinarily, I would agree with you.

But just spent a bunch of time searching other forums Ö. it's becoming more common. Consolidate parts & pieces Ö save money Ö. who gives a shit about the customer?

Will maybe I got lucky with mine lol

I can tell you it won't new an issue with just AC Delco Blue Boots though. It will be with them Napa and Raybestos Blue Boots too. They're all made by the same pant.

Yeah just bought mine this week. Really is weird. My buddy is running a set and he hasn't reported any issues. Glad mine are right. Hopefully it's just a bad run and you can. Swap em out for the correct length ones.
