40" Yokohama Geolandar M/T

I searched :flipoff2: ... came up with a bunch of posts a few years old when the largest they offered was a 35" .

So anyone running these tires? How are they holding up to the rocks? sidewalls?

wagman 03-21-2010 08:45 PM

I've got 37s but hardly any miles on them & not many rocks around here. I had them out once before we got covered up with snow last fall and was very happy with them in loose dirt, gravel & shale. Had them in the snow quite a bit this winter & they did well always kept diggin till they got ahold of something & moved forward.
Waitin for the snow to melt & yhe mud to dry so I can get them off in the rough country again.

I ran a set of these in 33" and they did really well for cleaning(good spacing between lugs). But the sidewall was pretty soft. never popped one but it felt like a old style BFG MT thickness of sidewall. for street, I siped the center lugs because when it rained they slid like nobody's business(normal for large lug tires).

I see the 40's handle ~1klb more weight in the C rating. I'd also be curious if anyone is running these on the trails.

I have to think these were made for Cameron Steels Trophy Truck and my guess is that you can't buy them.

somebody please prove me wrong

That's one hell of a price for 40's. Might be worth trying them out! Shit, 37's are only $10 cheaper

Wow.... max load = 1395 lbs. They need to make these in an E range, not a C.

Evilwhitey 04-21-2010 12:17 AM

My buddy runs them on his yj. He loves them. Says they wear well on the street, drive nice and perform decent offroad.

Any new opinions on these.

RANGERROD 10-08-2012 07:10 PM

I've been watching tire rack haven't come off back order. For that cheap I think there worth trying. But they haven't been off back order in almost two years. Also there's a couple threads on them one guy said sidewalls are thin. let us know how they work if you get them.

TrikeKid 10-08-2012 08:15 PM

I run the 35's and yeah, sidewalls felt real thin mounting em up. They held up okay to the bed sides chewing on em till I got em cut though.

jeep937 10-08-2012 09:59 PM

I want a set! I had some 35's a while back and always liked the look. Reminds me of the mil spec Michelins..

toyotanewbi85 10-09-2012 08:08 AM

i have a set on my toyota in the 35 flavor. They ride great on the street and flex decent on the rocks @ 10 psi. I do not have beadlocks so i don't want to go any lower.

I have a spool in the rear and daily drive these tires, very impressed with wear patterns on the lugs, everything is nice and even.

All in all ive had them for about a year, hope to try them out a little more this winter.

Any new info? A buddy of mine got them in a 38x13.5x17 but tore his rig apart after the first run.

Curious to see how the 40s measure out vs a well known tire. Most likely too big for my rig, it's just too tempting at only 10 bucks more.

The snow thread has a picture of one next to a 40" mtr.

pennsylvaniaboy 10-17-2016 05:15 AM

Anyone else ever really use these offroad in the 40" size.. they are cheap!

offroadman83 10-17-2016 09:15 AM

This is the price all 40s should be....wonder if they are any good

Really thin sidewalls and beads.

YotaAtieToo 12-04-2017 09:43 PM

Thinking about these again in a 40. Americas tire quoted me around $330 ea. They are discontinued I believe, so I'm wondering if I might be able to get them even cheaper if they have any left. I'm not sure if I like the idea of buying tires that are no longer made though.

RANGERROD 12-04-2017 10:01 PM

If I were to get them I’d buy 5.

I know this isn’t a procomp tire thread But if you watch procomp mt2s will come on sale buy three get one free which will end up being the same price the geolander and they’re still being made.

They just ended the buy 3 get 1 free at 4wheelparts.

I figured if I get the warranty from American tire, I should be good. They will replace the tire with a compareable tire, probably a Cooper. At that point I'd probably buy a 2nd Cooper and then at least I'd have 2 matching pairs

Speaking of the cooper's, they weren't much more, I actually like the tread pattern on them. I haven't read much about them in a 40 yet.
