Desertoy's X-Chassis #12 Resurrected

Well, I finally got off my a$$ and started putting my X-Chassis back together after 3 years of rotting in my garage.

Here's my original build thread https://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=298203

And a few pictures

Since I started working with Marlin Crawler and competing their Formula Toy, I haven't needed my own rig because,,,, Well, why beat on my rig when I can beat on someone else's. That and the People from Marlin Crawler were nice enough to let me keep the Formula Toy and trail ride with it for advertisement purposes.
Since then, my X-Chassis has been looking like this.

Well since we sold the Formula Toy in March I have found myself with nothing to drive so I thought it was time to get started.

Like every other project, it started out as nothing big. I just needed to change the leaking aluminum fuel cell out and install the Diamond axle housings that have been sitting on the floor for the past 3 years.

so I started with the front axle. It's a "Toy 60" if you were wondering.

Then all I wanted to do is to upgrade the air shocks to FOA coilovers.

Then I figured I would add FOA bypasses and air bumps. to do this I needed to re fab the whole shock mount so I ended up cutting off the whole upper structure.

Then I got to talking to the guys at Marlin Crawler and ended up deciding on a motor upgrade, then a trans upgrade, then it just went downhill from there.

Nice axle!
Any more braces or guards for the ram that aren't in the pic or that are planned?

Ya, my buddies have been giving me a hard time about that so I will reluctantly add a couple braces. I also double sheared the steering arm.

I got a new set of inner axles from Currie. The old ones never broke but when I took them out I noticed the splines were twisted.

Since I'm feeling all motivated these days, I decided to install an overhead winch in my shop. I installed a 40ft long piece of H-beam in the ceiling and installed a trolly and a winch that I bought from Harbor Freight.
It was ALOT of work putting it in but pulling the motor and trans was SOOOO NICE!

Shesh! 3 years sitting in the shop and barely any rust on the tube still. Jealous! I have to run a dehumidifier

Nice to see it being put back into service. Shop looks great!

This whole time I thought the other rig was yours and Marlin was just your sponsor.

Looking forward to seeing both (new & old) up and running.

now you have the hoist, nice work!

that pic of your x chassis stripped down in your shop looks so clean after seeing all the trash buildup around it for years.

btw, that ram mount looks like its going to break off

I sat the motor in the chassis. It will fit with a little drivers foot well modifications. The LC Engineering header will not fit.
I can't really do anything as far as motor mounts until I get the bell housing and the new trans/transfer case. That's ok, I still have pleanty of other stuff to do.
