What happened to the Walbro Pickup thread???

I've had this hyperlink saved for like a year. I just checked in on it a week or two ago and it was there. But now that I finally need it its gone! What happened? It doesn't turn up in a search either.

Has anyone found a more affordable source for the submersible fuel line? $23/foot is insulting.

I got mine from Liquid Iron & it was $20/ft.

any or not. Their under the vendor

or call them.

Send a message via AIM to DownNDirty
I picked mine up a while back. Should have just ponied up for the submersible line from the vendor. Now I have to pay the same if not more and find it.

Sure did, finally! The Gates stuff is great but the fact that I can only buy it in 1 foot sections really sucked. Not to mention the pricing I was getting was insane.

A good bit of research led me to this Eaton line that does the same thing for quite a bit cheaper.

In the near future I will start offering in tank pickup kits that include absolutely everything needed to put this setup in the common fuel cells.

I'm designing my setup in my brain right now and will be buying shortly. Thanks again.

Loren,

Did you just run the "stock" JAZ pickup tube to that barb fitting?

That's exactly what my kits are going to look like. The hardline holds the pickups in the bottom of the cell a lot better when there is no foam in the tank.

I went to O-Reilly's and pick up some submersible fuel safe fuel line. It was around $8 for 18'' of it and they had several sizes. I used 5/16'' for my 4.3L.

The lines have only been in use for 4 months or so and seem to be holding up perfectly fine. I also used APE to get the pickups as well.

OK crazy question here but... How would this setup stop from just picking up air when the fuel level is very low and the rig is at an extreme angle?

Thats what those pickups are designed to do. Read one of the linked threads.

I'm using a clear hose from a place called Newline. www.new-line.com

Pm if you want more info I can call and see what kind of hose it is.

They said its commonly used for clear fuel hose on custom choppers. Its all one piece so its gas resistant inside and out and I got 5' for $20 or so. Been in use for 6-7 months and no issues yet.

In for the tech

Question, How do you secure the pickups to the bottom of the cell? It would think that all that rockin and rolling, jumping, would cause the pickups to rattle around? I my self plan on going with a JAZ cell for my build, but thinking how to securely hold down the pickups at the bottom of the cell? Or is there something about JAZ cells I abviously don't know about?

thanks.

Yeah, stock pickup tube. I raced one race without foam and didn't have any problems but the week before KOH I paniced about tech and ordered the ATL foam. Funny thing is I probably have more money in my set up that if I ordered on of the nice ATL cells from the get go.

Got it. Order cell with foam, remove foam, install pick ups, reinstall foam on top of pic ups, Make sure a hole is hollowed in foam for feed line.

I assumed thats the reason for all the bolts at the top of the JAZ cells. So its also save to assume, its easy to apply coating also? Or install a custom ballistics proof cell liner within it? Makes it easy to apply future upgrades easily?
