Beadlock Wheel Remorse

Alright, so I fawked up pretty bad.

I didn't have the money to buy beadlock wheels, so I decided to try and build some myself.

Bought some junk yard 16.5" wheels- $20/piece
Cut some new 3/8" Grade 50 wheel centers from work- $100
Cut beadlock plates and other parts- FREE
Powder coated top plates- FREE
Used 37x12.50 hummer tires- $60/piece

Realizing I built the wheel backwards- "Disappointed"

Stock Junkyard Wheel

Old centers knocked out

New centers cut and countersunk for lug nuts

Welded in... Notice how low the "Valley" is on the wheel - BIG MISTAKE

Cut plates for beadlocks

Not realizing that the valley in the wheel is so you can mount the tire on right is where I screwed up.

So now I can't get the top bead to pull back over the wheel and I'm stuck with some fake ass beadlocks now....

Redo the centers and make double beadlocks out of them.

If you decide to build a new set.

Don't use a flat center as they arebprone to bending

I would dish that center to add strength.

damnit this is all wrong. I feel like I've walked into the PBB twilight zone. Here is how it is "supposed" to go.

-OP starts thread titled "yo check out my badazz beadlockzzz yo"
-Pics are posted
-Someone points out they are backwards
-OP gets defensive
-Everyone jumps in
-Shit show ensues

At least, that's usually how it is done around here

Much softer and tolerant around here after that other board threatened to burn our 14Bolt and Dana60 Bibles.

Put the tire on like you would on a normal wheel. It's hard to put on but not impossible, it just takes a lot of tire levers and determination.... and lots of liquid dish soap.

yeah, my hubs would stick out about 4 inches, which is why I recentered them in the first place.

That was the first thing I tried doing. After 3 pry bars, a 48" crowbar, 2 vice grips, countless number of cheater pipes, and a bottle of dish soap it was a no-go.

Then the first tire shop used a hydraulic bead breaker to try and push the bead into that valley and after bending 2 tire spoons with cheater pipes they gave up. The second tire shop said they wouldn't even touch it.
