I will be running the same engine tranny combo, and I am going to try to do a VSS. Some people say you may need this to keep the engine from stalling at times. It may depend somewhat on the tune you run as to whether or not you need it.

If I knew for sure that it would be fine without it would be easier/cheaper not to run one, but enough people seem to claim you need it to make me believe you probably need it for best results.

Get someone to tune it that knows what they are doing. Keep power to the computer all the time. You won't need VSS. I have never used it, and don't personally know anyone else that has with a th 350/400.

I ran a 5.3 with a th350 for a few years with no vss, no problem. VSS is used to shift the transmission. If the tuner tunes it for a manual trans it will be fine. I used a mail order tune from wait4meperformance. It was like $75 shipped and I never had a problem with stalling.

Never ran VSS with my 5.3/th350, no problem at all.
Now I have a LY6 with the same Th350, no VSS and it runs perfect.

This is the exact same as me and never had a problem in a few years. I did hear once that it can help with fuel economy but don't know if that's true since I thought also that it only controls the trans
