Hope they get this one contained quick. Neat area out there. I've worked on the tower at the top of Jackson Butte and the view is awesome but there are some really remote houses you could see along the river below.

Del Albright lives there, I called him shortly after it started and they were preparing to blow out then!

Starting to narrow down where you live. I was sort of thinking you were in EDCO.

Power is still out up here in pioneer. Cell towers must be loaded down from people trying to get data, it took a couple of minutes to pull up pbb. I couldn't do a search for the fire directly without timing out

Nah, Calaveras.

Lights are starting to freak out again so I guess the generator will come on again.

Looks like a typical sunset from my back deck only isolated and reflecting itself on the cloud of smoke billowing above it.

Dog started tripping out about the time it started, checked for earthquakes etc. and didn't know what to make of it, couldn't hear any shooting but I'm deaf in one ear. Chocked it up to shooting . . . my BAD!!!

Update: They are talking shutting down Electra power lines on the scanner as I write so fire ops can continue safely . . . out we go for sure now . . . oh well.

Be safe firefighters!!!

Amador County Public Health: Air Quality Alert: Wildfire Smoke Warning

Amador County Public Health advises community members that because of smoke from the Butte Fire air quality may be unsafe. Those with chronic health conditions, young children, pregnant women and elderly adults should especially be aware and take protective measures.

If you smell or see smoke, take these steps to protect your health:

- Minimize outdoor activities.
- Stay indoors with the windows and doors closed.
- Do not run fans that bring smoky air inside (such as swamp coolers or fresh air ventilation systems).
- If you have a wall unit air conditioner, set it to “re-circulate.”
- Do not smoke, fry food or perform other activities that that will create indoor air pollution.
- If you have chronic health conditions, monitor your health closely. Contact your health provider if your symptoms worsen, including repeated coughing and wheezing.
- If you are experiencing a health emergency, call 911.

what is being evacuated?
isnt Moke Hill, Mokeulmne Hill?

if so, they would have the shelter center in the town that is being evacuated

Thank you and I wish but knowing the area . . . IMHO the best we can hope for at this point is the typical down slope westerly breeze with it's inherent humidity to slow it's progress and the light of day so aircraft can roll on it.

Gonna be a LONG night for many!!

They are one and the same but it spans a fairly large area and these locations are relatively safe by comparison to the surrounding areas in and around Moke, just temp I'm thinking?

Butte - Amador County

sure hope so.
the river drainage alignment suck in this area.
rivers drain from the northeast, and normal winds come out of the southwest.
drives the fire right up the drainage...fast

Well, if there is a saving grace until light of day, the E to W down slope breeze is finally on at a modest 2.7 mph & carries 26% humidity with it . . . better than nothing . . . all things considered IMHO!
