totally nailed it, lord knows I am self-righteously impractical dd my '02 V70 wagon that I bought for $500 and have filled with parts and tools for my job

It was also horribly impractical to take it on an 1800 mile road trip to Atlanta filled with luggage, 2 kegs of beer and 2 jockey boxes for said beer

But wouldn't a Camry, or Avalon, or highlander, or rav4 been much more "practical"??

How about a nice 'roo wagon? That at least makes -some- sort of sense

going the "extra" mile of getting volvol wagon just "says something"

Other than the Highlander how do any of those make more sense than a Volvo wagon? Plenty of room, comfortable, eats up highway miles

I'm guessing a "'roo" is what 12 year old girls call Subarus, again, why is a Subaru wago more practical than a Volvo

I get it, for whatever reason you don't like Volvos. I know this is shocking but your likes and dislikes do not translate to practicality

Serious Q's:

How many miles does your '02 V70 have?

What mileage did you acquire it at?

And your owning a Jeep has what to do with the question?

Nothing. Equally as random, my college roommate (we co-owned a house in Tucson together), had at the time an 850 R? turbo, black, all the options. It was fawking sweet He made the "mistake" of leaving it with me one summer, as I stayed in AZ, he went back to the east coast. I took it to the track in Tucson and got a few tickets in it

yep, random.. Now I'm the closet volvol lover. My neighbor has a brand new v70? (fancy awd turbo sedan) he overfilled the gas tank and had a check engine light. I scanned it for him and got a p2421, (charcoal canister vent/purge stuck open). they charged him $700 to put in a new canister/purge valve

And those are anomaly's 300, 400, 500k. Every once in a while a lone chebby does that too with a 1/1,000,000 owner, immaculate care, etc. Not the norm

Bought it with 148,xxx, 165,xxx on it now

I've replaced sway bar end links, 1 strut bearing plate and hvac fan. If I have it next summer I'll probably replace the ac compressor (worn out clutch). And maybe replace windshield

I know how practical this car is, I live with it everyday. I also know how much more practical it is than 4 door sedans like you suggested, I've had similar. I conceded the Highlander, I fail to see why a Subaru would be more practical

And yes, I (most likely) have a charcoal canister full of fuel to go with my cel, common problem with these. I can fix it for probably $100 if I ever feel like it

Awesome and gratifying!!! Before my neighbor took it in he said "Rubbish!" (he's from Britain, rents the house next to mine) in regards to telling him he probably overfilled the tank and fucked up the vapor canister. FF 1 week. He comes up to me after I'm done mowing lawn and says,"You know what, they..... the Volvo dealer....... said it was my charcoal canister and I overfilled the tank".... I said "mmmmmmhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" Then he admitted "when I get the .30 cent discount @ Safeway/ King sooper/Insert regional grocery store here_______, I can't resist topping it off!!!" I just laffed.......
