Closest to Death Experience

Been seeing allot of talk around about crazy shit that has happened to people. Talk about drowning or burning. The Landslide incident.

Closest to death for me, normal weekday rush hour driving to work, no signs of much going on, pa turnpike, had to slow down a little because someone was merging. Next I knew my truck was doing a wheel barrow move on the hood of a Subaru, fell of the front onto its side, onto its lid, & hit the wall, 55mph or so cars/trucks everywhere. Walked away with seatbelt burn.

I flipped/endod a Ford Aerostar in highschool. Went over a few times and ended upright in the ditch on the same side of the road facing the opposite direction. I had to hold onto the seatebelt becasue the seat back broke at some point while flipping

In the army a long time ago I got very sick while in basic training. Some sort of upper respiratory infection as they called. I was taken to the Ft Dix military hospital with killer high fever and they packed me in ice when all else failed...I was hallucinating and all I remember is floating in space...

Almost drowned in a bad rip tide in Imperial Beach California. First time I'd tried surfing and didn't know how to handle the ocean (from a landlocked state).

It got so bad and painful that I knew I was dead. I just remember the thought going through my head of how bad my family is going to take it. I honestly knew I was going to die, gave up fighting the current at that point.

Then I surfaced and another surfer had seen what happened, paddled over and was able to grab me.

That was almost 20 years ago and to this day it's a strange feeling to think about how I had accepted the fact that I was going to die right there.

I've done a whole bunch of stupid shit. I'm seriously being watched over considering I'm still kicking.

Edit: no real close calls except for a 1 1/2 barrel roll in my 94 Toyota. Never felt like I was going to die though.

Maybe you should put yourself on a better diet and pay more attention when driving.

I win this game or come close, every time.

I jumped over a cement median to get away from other cars going by backwards. It was a 100 foot drop. I was on a bridge, thought there was a grass median and didn't know it.

This all happened about 1min after hit we a 4' tall cement bridge guard rail at 55MPH. We were very disoriented.

wrecked, got out. cars where going by backwards and side ways, piling up at night. We found a break in the action and decided to get out of my truck and on the other side of the median so we'd be protected. I got out and quickly jumped over this 4' tall cement wall. I caught myself with finger tips on the cement edge when I didn't feel ground after falling a few feet, climbed and pulled myself up. Just as I got back over the barrier I saw my wifes coat go by as she jumped over to follow me. She saw me disappear over the cement median and thought I was standing on the other side, so she went over. I grabbed the back of her ski coat and she hung there while I pulled her back over. she was very confused as to what or who pulled her up, she thought I was standing on the other side waiting for her, never saw me climb back over. Adrenaline and being a gym junky is the only way I was able to catch myself and then grab her coat and pull her up from hanging with her back to the wall.

It was 30 min later when a car went under the bridge and we saw headlights that we realized it was a bridge and what just happened. At the time we both just thought the ground was futher down than we thought, maybe 10' or so.

My recent encounter with my gun shot wound I thought I was going to die.

I know enough to know my femural artery is in my leg and if it opens up I could bleed out in a few minutes. I remember laying on the pavement, holding my entrance wound and wondering if this is it. My face went cold, I got light headed like I was going to pass out, breathing got shallow and I prepared for it to over. I thought about all the good things that had happened to me in my life and all the things that made me happy.

Then the EMTs showed up. Put an IV in me, gave me a shot of tramadol and two bags of plasma and I was back in the game.

A cop and an old guy did that on I70 on Vail Pass and both died in seperate incidents. The cop jumped when he saw a semi sliding towards where he was standing, only he didn't catch himself. I reflect on that when I drive by that spot, it barely even seems like a bridge and there is no road underneath but it's fairly high.

I've heard a few similar stories of them finding wrecked cars above and bodies below. you either got ejected or jumped.
