All the seals I had were dryer than your grandmother's cunt, no way you were just spitting on that and sliding things in there. YMMV.

Picked up a 79 Bronco that was a daily driver for 4 years. I didn’t know a front axle could survive like this for 4 years

Edit, fuck photobucket. The front diff is missing the pinion and the seal looks a little mangled. Might try to put a new ring and pinion in it

For the first time in I dont know how long, I only had one meeting on my calendar. None of my people bothered me, and I actually felt like I accomplished things today vs. being in meetings and doing damage control all day. It was awesome

Ending up on nights for the next 3 months atleast. Hopefully staying at the North Bay shop(Mare Island) and not the Central Bay(Alameda). Bids for shifts and locations are based on seniority and I’m 2nd to last on the list after just starting end of July.

Getting paid every 2 weeks is taking some getting used to(sucks) after being paid every Friday for the last 13-14 years

Spent some time dyno’ing my Sons race 170 last night getting familiar with the new injection software and getting a base line. . Hit all of 9.6 hp, new top and and cams coming today. Also bought a running and driving 72 Chevy milk delivery truck for $500 yesterday and while having cocktails last night won a case 450 tired skid steer on auction. Didn’t really plan on buying anything yesterday either

Finally threw new pads on the front of the Colorado today. Easy enough, but now it seems like the pass side is dragging, rotor gets stupid hot. Judging by the old pads, it's not a new issue.

Surprisingly clean in there. Did pads, rotors, unit bearings and calipers the last time, 2 maybe 3 years ago. Calipers were done because the pass side would stick at that time. I greased all the spots that need it, going to see if bleeding them helps at all.

A needle scaler is the tool of choice for this job. Works awesome at cleaning up caliper brackets.

Sometimes the rubber hose collapses internally and makes the brakes drag.

Shopping for a cheap 4 door gas mileage beater for the wife has become mind numbing. I’m finding it difficult to give up a reliable Tahoe for an unknown car just for better gas mileage. The last thing I want to worry about is her breaking down somewhere with the kids

I was wondering about this being the issue as well. More shit than I can fit into a day lately.

Fuck that. Just got the wife and kids into a GMT 800 Yukon XL. I like big and heavy vs small and fuel economy. We drive a shit ton of miles each and its like less than a grand yearly difference. And unless she gets hit by a bigger rig I feel good about it. Her best friend got in a head on about 6 months ago while visiting us in a Escape. Hit a full size 2wd van. Wifeís friend and friends son were DOA everybody lived in the van. 40-45MPH head on.

My wife never wanted a big rig and was against it with bad fuel mileage. Now after that she was cool with driving one and loves how it rides.

Those are great family rigs that are for the most part cheap and easy to fix. Shit in the last 8 years my wife has had a 02 Tahoe, 07 suburban, 99.5 extended cab pickup, 2000 Yukon, and a 08 ltz suburban for the last year. Should have never sold the Tahoe, the 07 burb was optioned stupid and got tired of making payments on it when it didn't have all of the nice features. Picked up the ext cab pickup for $1500 needing a transmission rebuild and she loved it until summer hit and the 2 fuck trophys in car seats in the back seat were always overheating because of no a/c vents back there. Sold it for $3500 and bought the fully loaded Yukon with 200k for $2000, drove it for a year or so and stumbled across the 08 ltz burb on c-list for $8k with 140k on it and a dead afm lifter. Replaced all the lifters and put a small aftermarket camshaft into it and got about a year out of it before it spun the #1 rod bearing from the past owner running it with the dead lifter so long with no oil pressure( I found 2 oil pressure sending units on top of the transmission when I pulled the engine). Just got it back together today actually from rebuilding the engine which the wife helped me tear out and she tore the engine down. Wife loves it and the 2 fuck trophys love it with hvac vents back there for them and the DVD screens. Even with replacing the lifters and then rebuilding the engine I'm still a few thousand ahead from buying a "good running" one with the same mileage on it.
