Had to clean up an inmate that managed to bite through the skin on his hand enough to expose the tendon. When he was done he started on the other one. He is now on a temp psych order at the state mental hospital. This was after two weeks of detox from heroin, alcohol, cocaine and whatever other pharmaceuticals he could get his hands on.

Some call that insane, I call it Thursday.

My hat goes off to nurses, the shit you deal with is insane. My buddys wife works in the ER in the local medium size hospital, in a city where the heroin problem is everywhere. The little shit that I've heard is enough to make me say fuck that career.

Funny thing is that I work in a safer environment than she does. I have deputies with me at all times and my patients are searched. Not so at the local ER.

Four years ago my dog blew out his knee. Had it fixed, and installed fancy racing parts.
Around Christmas he managed a green stick fracture in the same leg, lead to swelling, and an infection...antibiotics knocked it down, but they did mention there appears to be new growth in the bone. They couldn't tell if it was from the infection, or if it's bone cancer.
The lump on his leg has swollen back up over the last couple days, so we're going to the vet now...might mean removal of the hardware, might be a treatable infection, or it might mean it's bone cancer and it's game over.

Edit: not cancer. More antibiotics, and if this doesn't beat it, the hardware gets removed.

It's going to be a cold mofo today so it looks like a day in the shop to finish up a hitch lift I am building. Then if it warms up a little I have to move some pallets of wood in preparation of the noreaster we are supposed to get on Tuesday.
I was hoping we were over any big storms but I guess not.

Cold but at least the winds died a little bit. Truck jelled up this morning, that was fun. Got to go back out and get more fuel for loader, shop heat and generator.

Already high 60's here and heading towards mid 70s. Perfect weather.

We have a 2-story garage attached to the house by a mudroom, and the upstairs of the garage is our living room. The mudroom was built 3 years ago. Last year we started getting bats in the house, coming in through the garage. Now that it's warming up the bats are back. We've had 3 or 4 in the house in the last few weeks, and our outside kitten has killed 6 or 7. For the life of me I couldn't figure out where they were getting in. My wife has threatened to burn the house down if I don't get it figured out.

So, the other night I'm sitting in the living room watching TV and I hear a critter running through the soffits of the garage. Sounds like a damn squirrel. Thankfully the wife wasn't in there to hear it, because she would have been freaking out and packing her shit. It's a couple days later before I have a chance to look around some more to try to find where everything is getting in, and that's when I notice the kitten climbing out of the soffit to say hi. The back roof of the garage is about 18" off the ground, and there is about a 12" section of soffit that must have been taken off when the mudroom got added on and never was replaced. I never noticed it before because you practically have to lay on the ground to notice it. I'm pretty sure I found where the bats are getting in....

Did some heavy hauling today. Bought another w7 loader. This one is a gas engine and a few years newer than my diesel w7. Got to fix some sketch wiring but it seems in good shape.

finally got my old freebee tractor running this weekend. gave up on trying to rig up some kinda steering and bought a gear box off ebay, guess i should have asked for measurements as it came twice as big as the old one. welded a bunch of random crap together to mount it, narrrowed a old john deere seat to fit, changed/filled the fluids. re-wired the 4 wires needed for it to start and she works.

i live in a half acre and really dont know wtf im going to do with it. supposed to get a bit of snow over night tonight maybe ill plow the snow with it, driveway is screwed up anyways.

guestimating i got about $500 into it so far, dont really know if its worth much i see tractors on craigslist with the front end loader and the rear backhoe thing for like 1500

spent about 500 bucks to get my own vegetables and eggs. Having a hard time justifying it but my daughter is wicked into the chickens and doing a garden so I guess its worth it.
