Installed new faux granite counter tops and a new sink yesterday. Just got done painting the inside of the sink base cabinet, I hate dirty under sink cabinets.
The cabinets are knotty pine and after 17 years of living here we are ready for a change. I am painting the cabinets grey with some white blended marble back splash tiles. Looks good so far.

Woke up yesterday morning with a bad sore throat and a stuffy nose. The throat got worse throughout the day, went to bed at 9 and just woke up with my throat killing me and my head all congested. Ain't nobody up at this hour!

Almost done with moving - brought the 48' trailer full of stuff up here Wednesday and am mostly done unloading. Of course there's still actually unpacking everything but at least it's here. Still have by box truck down in CA to go get eventually but that can wait a bit - just need to get the truck so I can sell/whatever it and the few odds and end I stuck in it.

Wound up being 80,200 lb loaded with the 48'. I was expecting about 70k. Light weight was 35k, and I loaded the machine tools and a bunch of heavy stuff forward in the trailer and had weighted in then because I was worried about axle weights with all that weight in the front - was 53k GVW but 30 on the drivers and still had 30+' of empty trailer. Loaded the parts truck and other junk but hadn't weight in again till I was ready to leave. I figured the parts truck & odds and ends would be ~15k, so was expecting around 70k, but was really worried about being over on the drivers. So it was surprising when the scalemaster told me I was 80+ GVW and 30k on the drivers. I figured the overall weight would be ok if I kept the fuel level low, but had to move the axles and 5th wheel around and go on and off the scale several times to get it all reasonably close. Worked out well enough, made it over both scales without any issues.

And I just bought a dump truck. 85 F350, cute little thing but should work well for getting gravel and such. 6.9 NA motor and a 4spd, going to be slow but all I need to do is go ~15 miles down back roads to get to the quarry. It's small enough to be affordable to register & insure and should be easy to get in and out of places easily. Wish it was 4wd, but whatever. Needs some engine work though hopefully not too bad and the wasp nests removed. $800 and I get some parts off another pickup he's scraping.

Not really - was fine the rest of the way. I swear there's something about Hawthorne - this is 2 of 3 trips through there I've had weird issues. Last one was a trailer brake short that showed up 20 miles south and fixed itself 20 miles north of town.

Nice reminder, I need to update that thread.

I was coughing so bad I couldn't sleep. I came down with a sore throat and head congestion the other day. I felt much better yesterday but must be having a relapse.
Is it becoming normal to be up at all hours? I can't even remember the last time I slept all night.

Yes it is going to be a normal thing from now on since you missed two full nights sleep

Finally, after two months of waiting, received my voluntary redundancy offer.

With a termination date of 4/28/17!

Apparently they originally sent it on 4/24 to a different email address. One on the company that bought us out's domain, not the company I work at!

Fuckwits!

So now its

We got an offer on our house and the buyers are having inspections this week. This morning, the 4 year old tells me that there is a spider in the basement. I go down there and find one of these fuckers:

I shit a brick. I have never seen a termite for real before, but this had to be one. Google wasn't helping either. I was convinced I was screwed and my head went racing on about the financial implications this was going to cause. I went searching in the drop ceiling, but didn't find the colony.

I took one more look and realized that all of the termite pics have lines on the body that are perpendicular. These ones are the same direction as the body. Turns out, it's just a fawkin' beetle.

...also, the 4 year old needs to play with more bugs; definitely not a spider.
