The things at work that REALLY piss you off

I'm reading the new career at 40 and the paycut to do something enjoyable threads while I sit her in my office just fucking pissed off over the dumbest shit

Every 2 weeks it's a gamble if the paychecks are going to be "ready" on time before lunch, your fucking with the only reason I come here every day
We are still waiting for an e-mail today.

I got an internal complaint this morning about a quote I clearly didn't do, the complaints don't mean jack squat but I'm the guy that will tell everyone when I screw the pooch and exactly how I will fix it.

Speaking of quotes, why the fuck do I need 4 different spreadsheets and a 20 year old program to make quotes when all you want is a picture?

The petty assed fighting between departments. I'm the guy that has to talk to each and every one of these fuckers, I don't want to hear how you think the other guy doesn't do a good job (when he does). Have you tried filing an internal complaint?

When I order aluminum plate, It's for a job that you want to do, and the customer has paid for. Fucking fund the $200 in aluminum.......don't wait for the last second, then realize the only vendor that will work with us any more is out of stock.

The second in command will change priorities based upon if he gets the commission check or not......then bitch when something doesn't ship on time.

I need to get out of here......... I feel my soul die a little bit every day I come here. But the pay is great and I take off 1/2 days randomly to bring my disabled wife to doctor appointments.

I feel there are 3 things holding me here. When 2 of them change, I'll shit on someones desk
Please add to this list so I realize I don't work in the worse place in the history of man

When you and your fellow co workers raise flags on how things are not being handled properly for months after losing a lot of money and finally one of the higher ups sees it first hand and tells you to come in for work on Saturday to resolve it when you already have a wheeling/camping trip planned.

rant over.

For me it's the customers that ask "Are you sure you know what you are doing." I always want to respond, if you knew how to do it, you wouldn't be paying me to do it for you. Sadly I can't. So I just add 15 bucks to the bill.

You need to start looking NOW. You can't let that job eat your soul. It's going to take a while to find one that fits. My .02

First quaterly review; "You're being too friendly with the customers."

Second quarterly reveiw; "we've received a few complaints from customers on your attitude."

The only thing keeping me here is having a tiny sliver of a mortgage left, needing health insurance and unlimited Spotify metal streams

1. Faulty equipment. My job would be 10x quicker and easier if I wasnt constantly having to afroengineer bullshit because they can't be bothered to spend money on maintaining equipment and the vans.

2. A lot of this has to do with the above. My boss not answering her damn phone. 99% of the time in calling its due to her giving me the address or info or because I can't work on something due to fucked up equipment.

3. Retarded scheduling, especially on Saturdays. We're closed on Saturday, but sometimes we'll come out anyway. Here lately she keeps booking one or two small jobs right in the middle of a fucking Saturday. We've been slow as shit on my side of the business all year and I'm not working 6 days a week to make part time money. I'm going to have like 30 hours this week. Saturday she has one appointment booked for noon that will take like an hour but is 45 min from the office. If it's going to make or break my week or get me overtime fine, but I'm not wasting the whole day for 3 hours of pay.

The co-worker I have to work with 95% of the time I'm in the field. He complains about everything and I mean everything, he's a cancer. Totally affects my mood and ability to do MY job. It's gotten to the point that I'm considering leaving for another job. I've never, ever in my 20 years in this industry told a boss I can't work with so and so anymore... but I'm at that breaking point. Sigh

I have been in my industry for over 10 years. Certifications out the ass and run with very few call backs. Every now and again, I will hit a problem that requires me to call the help desk to get some SQL script rewritten and sent back into the point of sale.........

Indians, dot, not feather, WILL NOT TRANSFER my call to the correct people(back here in DFW) until they do their turn it off, turn it back on crap.

If I call the war room directly, they tell me they won't help me until i have a level one help desk ticket.......

The amount of bullshit a person will put up with is directly proportioned to the size of mortgage that they have.

Where to start.

25 year veteran of my engineering discipline, back at the same business I started with right out of college.
Most guys are still here after those 25 years, whereas I went out and made real money, got real experience outside these walls and learned a few things....

Now I am made to be a bully, a know it all and above all, a threat to management...

Time and time again, I humbly place fact, theory and real engineering data down to prove why we are not able to do certain things successfully....Met with stonewalled ignorance.

Just interviewed Monday at a $500 MM a year business who want me to start a new manufacturing discipline there....too bad it is 2.5 hours away and the wife is adamantly opposed to it......FMWL....even with a solid SIX FIGURE base salary......UGH

If I started listing everything that pissed me off about my job, I'd easily find out what the character limit is for a single post.

So, I'll just say there are 'a few'.

Luckily, over half our office is retiring within the next two years, and at that point I'll be in the driver's seat, so I can unfuck this place.

Everyone knows change-is-a-comin, and the directors and VP are on board with all my plans/ideas.

we always get the dont cash the paychecks right after work on friday as there might not be enough money in it. the people who are broke as hell for some reason get pissed off at it, i just cash it monday or tuesday cause the bank is next door.

lately its been the other mechanic who works here. we are a two bay shop and he is insanely slow so i find myself having to work twice as hard to pick up his slack and pretty much almost always count on staying a few hours late. some blame his age as hes in his late 50s but thats bs cause the guy that used to be up here too was the same age and just as fast as me.

i just hope he aint making as much as me that would really piss me off. and i think i meantioned in another forum he talks to himself all day long. half the time i think hes on the phone as its like full volume and only half a conversation. but whatever keeps him from going crazy and killing everyone i guess

My company just went through this whole change. I can't call the overseas help desk and start a ticket when I have no idea what the motherfucker is saying on the other end.

There are other reasons to put up with work B.S. than a mortgage. I work less days than a school teacher and will be sipping margaritas at my beach house in Mexico very soon.

When I spend hours with a customer putting together a quote and then they decide not to do it because it costs too much or will take too long. Everyone wants shit done in an unrealistic time frame for half price.

I be damned if I'd take any bulling shit as a grown ass man. I might get fired but I'd let the mother fuckers know that I would fuck their world up beyond belief

I had a dream job working in motorsports--all the gear and components I wanted, racing, building, race tickets and pit passes galore, shows, etc...but left for damn near the exact list you have up.
My list now:

-We had an interim president who ONLY hired young, hot women (some semi-hot). Unfortunately, none of them are even fucking remotely qualified for their jobs. After he left, two got fired, but one remains and she's in sales...and couldn't sell a shotgun in a prison riot. It's ridiculous.

-We buy lots of companies, which is great as I'm always the lead on new engineering/research development during the acquisition. The shit part is that the bean counters only look at the companies books and do little with the engineering or research, then wonder why their $100M acquisition is getting bogged down by $2M in development costs.

-I'm actually managed and directed by our parent German company, which is great. What is not-so-great is that I also have a US-based 'manager' who fought with me for years and did everything he could to get me fired because of this. He couldn't tell me what to do or direct my schedule, and the more Germany relied on me for outside and overseas projects, the more jealous and vengeful he became. I figured I could whine to HR or Germany about it or ignore it and let him realize the situation, hoping he's come around. I was near quitting many times and the stress of constant threats of being written up were getting to me.
Eventually Germany stepped in, a total of three times, to tell him to chill. Eventually, a strongly worded STFU was sent to him (and CCd to me) and this has resolved it.

Things will get better. If they don't, GTFO cuz dreading going to work isn't worth it.

I explore a few ideas a year to get my own thing going.
Eventually I talk myself out of it or something happens to change my mind.....
