they are guided by the user. they are not fire and forget "guided by optical sensors"

it's flight path is controlled by wire.... it's fly by wire

the wire "guides" the data that the user inputs, period.

Do these dim wits understand what we do with the shit we send over there? It gets "destroyed" in a dump by simply burrying it so that anybody that owns a shovel can dig out. How about a nice miller bobcat?

Of it does not get burried, it gets given to we think are on our side, if those people do bot switch to the other side, they get killed and their weapons taken.

Maybe eric holder gave them the tow system?

That was my "Job" for nine years. There is no instruction plate on that set up. You need a bit of training to make it go BANG and make it count.

So by "bit of training" you mean:
That is the bad end.
Don't forget the cooler and snacks for the HMMWV.
Don't use your happy sock to clean the FLIR lens.
Packing foam makes a decent pillow.

If they did actually use a TOW, wouldn't that have been a luck shot unless the helo was right on top of them? The video I saw looked like the helo was a long way out there.

Then again, Taliban have shot down helos with RPG's.

from the video it looks like one of the unguided rockets he was firing failed. there is another flash below the flash of the the last rocket right before the tail flashed

I guess anything is possible. Especially with the Russians habits of getting down and dirty with their aircraft in injun territory. I have video of them making numerous gun runs in Aleppo and never went above 100 feet and kept coming in on the same bearing on their gun runs. More videos of the fixed wing aircraft flying along power lines and damn near scraping them.

their air force culture is still like 1930's barnstormers.
We got all by the book, they're still cowboys in mach 2 fighters having a good time.

And, that is why our politicians need to go home for good. There was probably a $4M contract to buy generators/welders. In turn, Miller contributes $.6M to someone's campaign.

Ignorant? Youre the retard who doesn't understand that the "wire" doesn't "guide" the missle. It translates communications.

TOW = Tube launched, Optically tracked, Wire command link guided Missile

What exactly are these communications being transmitted to the missile through the wire? Is it passing audio from the user's iPhone so the target gets to hear something like a ring back tone before it goes boom? Is the missile sending back selfies?

No, it is how guidance information is sent to the missile. The missile is guided by the communications sent down the wire.

Save your keystrokes. That dude is hard headed as fuck and has zero experience with TOW but he will argue the fuck out of his "knowledge".

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BGM-71_TOW
An optical sensor on the sight continuously monitors the position of a light source on the missile relative to the line-of-sight, and then corrects the trajectory of the missile by generating electrical signals that are passed down two wires to command the control surface actuators.[5] After launch, the operator simply has to keep the cross-hairs of his sight pointing at the target, and the guidance system will automatically transmit corrective commands to the missile through the wire.
