Are the flags just for wind conditions for the crane operators? Seemed like they were at staging areas, but why three? Then I see them elsewhere and down the middle of the spillway seems like they'd be visible from the cranes on either side?

Anyway, I think this is one of the best produced ones I've seen. Shame we can't leave comments.

Perhaps the winds are different on the sides vs in the middle from the varied spillway walls (or lack thereof)?

Talked to person on the job, they have little to no wind down in the spillway, he said it is HOT and bright. Also working down in the spillway the angle is killing his legs and ankles. Notice how all the compressors and pumps are mounted level on angled platforms.

I saw the platforms (the portajohns are also on platforms). Did they say what the flags are for?

The flags are for the crane operators, they are pick zones.

That is wild how much RCC they have placed. Those stair steps are gigantic.

Look to be wrapping up the emergancy spillway splashpad.

Plus installing the drain tubes and placing RCC outside the main spillway walls.

Not sure if I posted this before (different dam), I think I posted a time-laps of the construction, but there's a lot of good detailed discussion in this.

Juan on the ground. The flags are guidelines for crane operations - spotter required if a crane is reaching across center of the spillway.

I can't image the force of the water hitting those teeth after that long drop.

Even without concrete, they’d still be effective.
