Anybody here adopted a kid in Ca?

Can you explain the process and approximate costs? How hard is it to get one under 1 year or even better, newborn to 6 months?

Wife and I are thinking we might want one more and the road is closed and the bridge is out.

Good luck and be strong. Two friends have, one gave up, one was complete success story. I can contact them but it will take time.

Do they need to be white?

Semi-serious question.

Other question: Why?

We adopted But not in Cali. I'm sure the process and costs will be similar from our state. Feel free to PM me if you would like an example.

Are you considering a Dept of Human Services adoption? Or going thru a private agency?

We went private. The cost was much higher but the headaches were much less.

When we started the process a friend said it's going to cost you either way. You just have to decide if you want to pay money or stress and angst.

Fostering might be the quick bridge to "speed" the process up. The adoption won't happen faster, but you'll have the kid in house sooner.

Younger kids take longer than older kids. Older kids typically come with baggage if they came from a broken home.

Another option is to find someone who's looking at giving up the child for adoption vice abortion. A coworker of mine fostered their son as soon as he was released from the hospital after birth. It still took nearly a year for the adoption. And it's no cheaper either.

California is 12% of the nation's population, and 33% of the nation's welfare recipients. If you pay taxes, you're already doing it.

Why would you want to adopt a Canuckian? They go through puberty at like 6 and their heads hinge at the back!

Not to mention, the house would be constantly bereft of ham.

My sister went the China route 15 years ago and couldn't be happier. The girl had to drop out of top level gymnastics because of vitamin deficiency as an infant, but healthy enough to be a great cheerleader/tumbler. Really cool girl

My friends here in PA adopted a newborn infant via fostering from a drug addicted mother. The process was tough but easier and cheaper than private adoption. His church helped a lot. The kid is 5 now and has issues due to being born addicted to drugs and has some sort of strange separation issues in spite of being given up almost immediately after birth but he is doing great and my son loves playing with him. They had 5 kids of their own already.

I don't know anything about your family so do not think I am assuming anything here. My friend told me that adopting the infant was hard on his family for several years. If not for a very strong relationship and their religious faith it could have wrecked their family. In spite of that they would do it again.

Since our resident libtard brought it up, the kid is white.

In WV, through an agency was $30 to $40k 10 years ago for a healthy white kid. The darker the kid, or the more disabilities - the price dropped.

They don't adopt kids, they sell them.

I don't have any insight to add, just to say I hope you can make it work.

I don't know if you ever tune in to Armstrong and Getty, but I after I caught their show on foster care, I have a whole new level of respect for both the people who work in it and those who foster/adopt. Devastating stuff.

Link for anyone who wants a listen - A&G Foster Care Panel Discussion | Armstrong and Getty | iHeartRadio

Good luck.

Good luck.

I just started listening to A&G myself. I havnt heard the foster care show yet but its amazing how mich sence these guys have in general compared to other talk show hosts. They do a good job of showing things from both sides as well as making fun of both sides.
